Title: Rod and Reel Set-ups
Post by: Langer on April 06, 2007, 02:10:25 PM
I wanted to get your opinions on how I should set up my rods and what kind of applications they would be good for.

Rods:
-Spinning
   *BPS Extreme 6'8" ML
   *BPS Extreme 7' Med.
   *2 Berkley Accuflex IM6 6' Med.
*BPS Crakin Power Pros (E-Glass Construction)
       -6'6" MH
       -6 MH
-Casting
   *BPS Extreme 7' Med
*Guide Seris IM7 Classic 6'6" Med
   *Berkely Accuflex IM6 6' MH

Reels:
-Spinning
   *Shimano Symetre 2500
   *Shimano Sedona 1500
   *2 Shimano Tx 2000's
-Casting
   *2 BPS Extremes
   *BPS Prolite Finese
   *Diawa Capricorn 100H

As you can see I dont have equal rod to reel combinations, so just match up what you feel would make the most sense for different applications.  I have my own Ideas about what I want to use them for just want to see what everyone else thinks as well. I am in the Market for an additional casting rod, so I can utilize all four of my baitcast reels.
Thanks.

I cant help with all but here would be my recomendations

extreme 7 spin with symetre 2500 for tubes
not real sure what the cranking spinning rods are like but I would assume the 66mh with one of the 2000's for jerkbaits
66mberkly with the other2000 for senkos
ml wouldnt get any use from me.

casting 66mh for spinnerbaits(am unfamiliar with all reels listed)  on a back-up this ould make a good jerk rod also.

66m for topwater
7m cranks.

the extreme ML 6'8" is a perfect dropshot rod. pair it up with a smaller reel and 6-8lb test.

on your glass spinning rods, i would tie one up with braid and use it for shallow cranks, jerkbaits, and spinners. 12lb braid is great for skipping docks too... easy to haul fish out. The glass absorbs the shock of no-stretch braid better and you will have better hookups with it.
