Title: Fishing April 6,7th
Post by: smbassman on April 02, 2007, 11:40:10 AM
I was hoping to spend two days on Lake Erie (out of Ohio) this weekend, but the long term forecast last week was a little more forgiving than the current forecast.  High's in the low 30's and strong north winds......BUURRRRRR!.  Anyways, I am looking for recommendations on a lake to fish in either Ohio, Inidana or possibly Kentucky.  According to the weather, we will have to drive to at least Columbus, OH or Indianapolis, IN to get to manageable temps.  Any recommendations on places to fish that are within 5-6hrs of Flint, MI?  Preferably with enough fish to have a chance to catch something during a early April cold front.

Thanks!

Patoka might be a little far. Maybe Monroe? Can be tough, but there is the possibility of a HUGE bass!

I wouldn't write off Syracuse/Wawasee or Lake James - cold, but the bass won't be as affected as we are... I've been hearing about smaller lakes around northern Indiana that might be more comfortable, but I don't have the firsthand knowledge about those (yet? :)).

I'm fishing wawasee this sat 4/6 - should be brutal as far as weather, but its legal fishing.  I heard it took 17 lbs there last Sat, and over 20 on sunday.  Oh what a difference a week makes>

smbassman,
I pm'd you some info on some southern Indiana reservoirs. It will be at least 10 degrees warmer south of Indy than it is here in northern Indiana. Saturday is calling for 20 mph winds and a high of 34 while it is supposed to be in the upper 40's to 50 in the places I told you about. Our fish were all up and very hungry last week, they will still be catchable, but you won't be comfortable.

Thanks for the responses and the PM Rufus!  I decided to cancel the long trip and try to get some Walleye down in Detroit tomorrow.  That way I switched my "work on the house day" from Monday to Saturday and I'll get one good day of fishing weather on Monday.

It was just too far to outrun this winter blast  :'( !

Thanks again!
