Gosh, I had a great time this past weekend at the 1st annual Fishing Extravaganza at Wonderland Marine West. What a great bunch of guys. Even though I saw and talked to as as many members as I could, I know there are a few of you I didn't see, especially if you were there Saturday and not Sunday (Saturday I was set up with the Fish Hedz masks up in the parts department but they let me mingle with the other vendors on Sunday ;D) So...sign in to this post if you were there. Would like to get a count on how many GLB members showed (including vendors and WMW employees).

Thought that was you in the parts department, I had to chase my kid who was chasing the hot dogs and didn't get a chance to say hi.
I did talk to you on Saturday in the parts dept. I'm the one commenting on the painted mask. Told you I already had a red one, looking to get another one for my partner.

I was there later on sunday afternoon. Good time talking to everyone!

I wish I could have made it...maybe next year. I'm sitting in Austin Texas right now watching a guy in a Skeeter pull some fish off of the bridge pilings...I don't know what's worse, talking about fishing or watching a guy fish from your 12th story window...
I was there both Saturday and Sunday. I forgot to bring the Part # for the cable I needed for my trolling motor, so there was no way to look it up, so I made a return trip on Sunday. Thanks to McCarters for the bag of plastics, I'll be sure to try thm out once I am able to wet a line. Also picked up some of the Exodus Jigs from Kevin. It was a good show.
I was there Sat morn bright and early. Got the McCarter bag of goodies. I think I was the first one there. Bought a fish hedz and a whole bunch of other things. Seen quite a few members there. Great show, props to all the guys at Wonderland for a great time.

I stopped in early on Saturday morning but I had a flight out at noon so I didn't get to hang around.
I was there all weekend--Minn Kota/Humminbird rep.
Eric was there.
I was there both days, and was impressed with the vendors they had there. Met a lot of people and got to talk shop with some well known area pros. Thanks to all who came out, and for those that missed it, make sure you make it next year (this could easily become the "Bassarama" of old).
That was a great show. Wish i could have been there Saturday as well.
Its always fun talking with fellow fishing nuts. Luckily, i got out pretty cheap. Dropped $45 at Mikes Rx on a couple Jackall Squad Minnows, a few 'discounted' Smithwick Susepending Rogues, a Buckeye Mop Jig, and a few bags of Conquistador Tackle craw trailers.
Could have been worse. KD Outdoors had some discounted reels i was eye balling pretty hard. And i spent most of my time in the GLB booth with Dan which just happened to be right next door to Wayne and the Xtreme booth. I was checking out the new tube colors and the drop shot tubes. But the voice of my better half was echoing in my head. I knew it would be curtains for me had i spent anymore.
Great seeing all of you. Cant wait til next year.
Thanks to everyone who came out to grab some baits. I ran out of time and didnt have as much as i had hoped but i am getting some more stuff put together and will get it to you guys soon.
McCarter himself :-\'
I was there. Had a sort of bad experience with the bulk oil situation. They really need to make there advertising CLEAR. I will leave it at that. Other than that they had all the good vendors there. It is nice to see that someone is actually having a sort of "FISHING" show not just a whatever show with everything there.

I agree on the Oil thing, I showed up with some empty laundry detergent jugs to fill and left with some empty laundry detergent jugs.
Thanks everyone for coming out. We had a blast, and are already talking about how we can improve it for next year. All ideas are welcome. In regards to the oil issue; we can only pump bulk oil into aproved containers. I apologize for not making that clear to the customers who haven't dealt with bulk oil before, but didn't realize that it would be an issue. You have to remember in todays world with all of the legal mumbo jumbo, we have to cover our rear ends. If you put the oil from your laundry detergent container in your motor, and it blew up, most would assume it is the dealerships fault, and not the fact that there was some detergent left in the bottle (just an example). So I will make that clear next year.
Rob
The wife and I were there. She enjoyed finally getting to meet Dan and Wayne. She commented that neither of them looked like she pictured. Not sure what that means... Picked up more Fish Hedz. I did like the fact that this was a bass fishing type of show mostly. Would love to see it grow to include many more vendors. Maybe clear out the whole building so it could be full of vendors. That would be cool. It was great to catch up with many of you GLB nuts. Good to meet you too Eric. Now I have a face to the name.
Just Piping in. I was there both days working and that was hard, I didn't get to actually get around and meet as many as I wanted to but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Thanks to everyone for making the first annual a success, you can definetly plan on next year. ;D
I was there Saturday from about 9ish till 1 or 2.
I enjoyed myself. Met some of you, and re-met others. (is that a word?).
Vendors were cool. Boats were cool. People I met were cool.
More vendors would be nice.
I would like to see more seminars. With such a plethora of local talent, it probably wouldn't be hard to convince a few guys to speak. There are so many really good anglers around that like to share.
i used re-met in another post on event - so guess we choose it to be a word.
chris, nice job on the shuttles back & forth. kinda nice to have. heard you have family thats in the buisness w/carts from one of the kids.
overall - good job!!!! whens the contest for new event name??
I didnt make it on Saturday. Instead I was donating money in a FOM event in Kentucky, but I was able to be there on Sunday and I was really impressed with the nice job Chris and everybody from the marina did to pull this off.
I am fortunate to be a part of such a great team and proud to say that I am a pro-staffer for Wonderland Marine West because of events just like this.
It was great to meet all of you and i am looking forward to next years event that will be bigger and better with a whole year to plan for it.
I was there on Saturday. I agree as well about the oil, oh well, there is always next year. I did pick up some hard to fine plastics from Mike's Rx. Also picked up a fish hedz mask. Now my son won't complain as much. Was nice meeting all. See you on the water.
I pulled in Sat to see the show and buy some shakey head jigs in 3/32 from mikes RX, it was good to smell fiberglass and fish lurs, everone was willing to talk colors and shapes, and pull some out of the bag (I wish BPS and Cabellas would allow that). I put my name in for a door prize and left. A little later my phone rang and it was Wonderland telling me I won a door prize, so I went back on Sun to see what I had won, well it was a bag of good stuff, a hat, a crankbait, a key floater, a bottle opener, and a 25 count bag of good looken tubes. So I went and bought some Roboworm 4 1/2in FX plastic. I'm gona need a bigger boat to haul my tackle around, and that Ranger Z sitting outside would fit just fine. All-in-all a great experience.
Rob,
I've never tried to get bulk oil in anything other than old oil jugs or gasoline containers I only use for oil. I've been told some don't like having to refill the gallon containers and asked to bring larger containers with bigger openings - like a 5-gal gas can.
What would be considered approved containers for anyone thinking about coming in for bulk oil this year? Do you guys mind refilling used 1 gallon oil containers? Are large gas cans ok (plastic - assuming they haven't been used for gas)? Thanks.
Thanks for a great show with a great start to what could become a premier show for bass anglers!!! Great job!
Dan,
I know you asked Rob this question but I will try and explain. Engine manufacturers now have very specific blends for each of thier engines. When there is a failure or warranty issue they go so far as to test the oils to find a reason for that failure. If any thing funny is in the oil they will deny any warranty claim and cancel a warranty on that engine because the consumer put something other than the approved oil in the engine.
The only way around that is if we only fill Reused oil jugs from the same type and Manufacturer. In simple terms if you buy a jug of Opti Oil off the shelf, after you use that oil save that jug and we can refill it with the same type Oil, and it is cheaper in Bulk. If we fill any other type jugs we could be held liable for a foreign substance in the jug and held liable for an engine failure.
Hope this clears up the confusion. Oil is cheaper when bought in Bulk so always keep your OEM jugs and bring them in to be refilled.
My only problem with the whole bulk oil thing was that it was not made clear to bring OEM empty jugs to the sale. Or else I would of tried to get some before getting there. Oh well now I know for next year. I still managed to get my 10 gallons at bulk with a little leg work.
