Looking at getting a 8" ram mount for the front graph so I can tilt it depending on the sun and so I can get it a little closer to me is this stupid? this with the humminbird mount would put it about 1' off the deck
I'm a big fan of RAM mounts. They have their drawbacks, like sagging when they are placed horizontally or at an angle unless you really crank down on them, but they absorb vibration better than any other mount I've used (Johnny Ray, flush mount, gimbal mount, etc.). The 2.5" ball mounts hold better than the 1.5" mounts.
To give you an example, mine sits up pretty high off the deck when it's in the full vertical position. If I'm going to be making a long run in really rough water, I'll usually lay the mount down horizontal with the deck to keep it more stable.
Sweet ya the 2.5" ball is the one i was looking at with an 8" bar
Like Slipkey said - make sure you lay it flat in rough water or Erie will body slam your new graph.
what size bird? you don't need the big one for most of the units - I run a 1" ball on my 700 series. a 1.5" is plenty for an 8 or 9. You could mount a 30" flatscreen on the 2.5". lol.
