Got this in a DNR e-mail update today. I see there are already tournaments scheduled on my lake. Open the map and let it update. Zoom in and click on a highlited lake.

yea, it looks like ol' Dave Decker is getting ready the 2014 season already
I talked to an MDNR Fisheries Biologist at the Ultimate Fishing Show and he was asking about whether or not I would be interested in entering in known opens and other events that might not have a local club or tournament director who will know about and use the app. Anyone want to volunteer?
I haven't tried the live app yet. I'll check it out this weekend or soon.
This has the potential to be awesome!
I was a pilot user of this last year - I gave them feedback on the system. It does have really good potential to help manage our tournaments throughout Michigan!
Glad to hear the various feedback.
I forgot to ask all you testers how it ended up going. If the future MDNR Fisheries Division comes along we may get some use out of tournament results too.
tried it yesterday, and I was one of the tester too, and it still has the same problem I found in testing. I fish a part of the St. Joe river but when you try to put in that landing it will not let you. now they list it on the map and in the directory but not in the app. They need to have away so you can add a landing that they forgot to post. Now I'm trying to contact some one who can address this issue but all I get is nothing! If any one knows a email or a way to get a hold of someone please let me know.
i found the site barely usable. am i supposed to be able to enter a tournament in by date or only look things up? Looks like the MRBIS site which only kind of works too. tax dollars hard at work.
It looks like no tourneys are on Belleville at all ....lol we know thats not true... ;D

Some of the divisions moved recently so lots of numbers have changed. I may see someone from Parks soon. If I can get to it I'll ask them how to handle ramps that aren't listed.
I haven't seen the live app yet, or a user guide. I literally haven't posted anything in detail about it yet because I expected it would create lots of questions. I need to get through some other ongoing things, possibly through all of February before I can take on another project. I received a number of other questions on the app earlier today so it may become a higher priority despite my efforts to avoid it... :)

I actually did not expect the MRBIS tie-in either. I don't recall thinking about that last spring/early summer? But I didn't use it a lot since a number of you graciously volunteered to test it. I can barely remember what I looked at last year.
I thought it was supposed to be able to look up by date. I will start building a question document and look for a user guide I guess. I have received some better reviews from a couple people so maybe there's something else there yet. I just haven't really looked beyond the opening screen of the live app.
If any of you find user guide information, or answers to any question you think someone might have, please, please share it on here. It will save time trying to figure it out for everyone. I had one club tell me they already have all of their events in the app.
Considering how many years (actually more like decades it seems) of stop and start, and temporary alternative paths this process tried to take it's something to have anything going finally. Now we just need to try it out, answer the questions we can, and probably make suggestions that eventually could be adopted.
I did have the one request if someone in our sphere could volunteer to enter known opens and circuits, but I got to thinking I have no idea yet if someone can edit someone else's events? We don't want duplicates, and I wouldn't want to have someone's events in that need to be changed and the actual organizer/tournament director can't edit them. Another question for the list.
Just for the record Dan I still posted all my tournament but the one that was missing and the ones that are not at DNR launches.
here is one other item we might like to ask them, can they do it for all launches? it would be better, and I think everyone would use then. I know they would have to get the counties to say yes.
i have 42 events to enter for this year. i can't figure out where to put them.
That would be a problem with design I think ...
I would like to see it cover any launch in Michigan. I don't know if it can or will. I will have a chance to ask some questions at some point soon. I'll start building the list. I think I'm missing the Feb 5th public access meeting about Eagle Lake so I can speak about the bass season proposal at another meeting. I don't think the person(s) at that meeting for the MDNR will be familiar with the app anyway.
