Title: bass season start?
Post by: matt on March 10, 2007, 10:37:12 PM
yeah i'm a little lost on where bass is allowed to be targeted and where of they aren't...seems like i'm forgetful and it's so hard to follow so many rules.I don't want to be targeting any fish i'm not suppose to be yet.Firgured this would be the best place to ask.

I'm in the canton areas so i more likely fish belleville or ford lake.

would like to go fishing tommorrow as the weather is gonna be pretty nice...i'd really like to wet a line to get rid of some of this insane stress i'm going through.

Catch and Release Bass Season starts the last Saturday in April in the Lower Peninsula - same as trout, pike and walleye.

Isn't walleye open until the 15th on inland waters?

I went out there today, met the DNR guy out there, walleye fishing does indeed end in 4 days...also told me april 28th which is the last saturday (kimmel mentioned) that bass season starts up.

I wasn't really targeting any fish, trying to get my new citica reel tuned right...so i was only out there for half an hour.

Walleyes fishing is suppose to be good this year in the detroit river...A little vertical jigging is a good way to get your fishing fever cured...You can even catch a few in the shallows throwing cranks....There is no closed season.  Just have to watch out for Ice Flows...

I better quit talking about walleye fishing so much..Dan is going to think that I am a MOLE brought in from the walleye clubs to spread their Ideals.......I consider walleye fishing an Appetizer for the bass season.

I added insult to injury today and purchased my license online.  I dont know why I do it to myself.  Now I have to stare at the license sitting on my desk at work and wish I was fishing.  As if I didnt have enough things to remind me I want to be fishing.

Yes they do...

And jigs too...

I've caught rock bass on Gull Lake on 1/2 ox jigs, LC jerkbaits, tubes and flukes with 5/0 EWG hooks. And you know what, I'm not lying...

Red-eye pots have gone up to 1.3 lbs. for rock bass on Gull Lake.

So until they have a season, I'm fishing for them year round  ;D

I hope you have nightmares of bucks running you off the beds and no matter how close you get to their fry they stay just out of reach and you have to eat boney crawfish to survive!! :P ;D 8)

Ahh, the life of a retired Principal.
Have fun and enjoy the sunshine for us. If you talk to baker tell him I said hello.
