Had my boat in the water the last week and the fishing is really turning on. Been catching bass along the drops. Seeing a lot more than catching. There has been a flying ant hatch the last few nights. Cast to the fish when they break on the ants. The fish spit them up all the way to the boat. Drop shot worm has worked the best. Hard to beat this weather. Fishing in shorts in October. Get out there and have some fun...
I don't believe I have EVER been on a 'flying ant' pattern!?!
It is the same deal as the mayfly on st Clair or the minnow bite on cass. The ants are emerging and the fish, ducks and gulls feed on them. Happenes every fall on union. Pretty easy fishing you wait to see a fish to boil on the surface and cast to it. The fish will be spitting up ants when you reel them in. I might video it some day
Watch the birds on a lake. You can learn a lot from them
