Title: orchard lake 9/21 & 9/22
Post by: detroit1 on September 24, 2013, 05:05:44 PM
Got to the ramp Saturday about 8 am, and it looked like a tourney was going on. Haven't seen that many fishing trailers in the lot this year. If anyone out there participated, i'd like to hear how you did. So I decided to go to Sylvan instead. (6 lm & 4 sm...no legals). Windy. Ahh - but Sunday the wind will die down some. Yeah right. Went to Orchard and maybe only 5 boats out there. There's not much you can do out there in the wind. Thru my a-rig for about 45 min. without a bite. Lost a good one and landed a 16"sm on a spinbait after 10am. Saw a couple of guys over by the island, and one guy was in shorts. I mean it was dang near cold!  I hope he saw action other than goose bumps......

I'm surprised Orchard didn't fish better detroit1. It's usually a real good fall lake.

That was the Oakland county bass anglers classic
10 boats
10# and change first
A 9# bag
8's and 7's too
Almost everyone had 4 or 5 fish

Next day was wolverine
Over 14# first

Thanks Derrek. BD: I'm still learning how to catch them in 15 - 25 mph winds...

I fished Orchard the last two days 10-3 and 10-4. windy points  held a lot of large mouth. Green sencos were the trick. Fishing crank baits in 9 to 12 ft of water produced some smallmouth, as the sun came out in the afternoon. The pike musled out most of the bass, and a lot of my crankbaits. The water temp is 66 and clear.
