Title: Grandpa's Tackle Box
Post by: Big dreams on September 23, 2013, 07:27:31 PM
My wife's grandpa gave me his old tackle box this past weekend.  When I opened it up, I was in aww.  There were old lures that I have only read about in magazines.  Each lure was in its own compartment and all are in excellent condition.  I am not sure of the names of each one but they have metal stampings on some and some do not have any markings.  Each time I opened a layer of the box, I came across something even more amazing.  At the bottom of the box there were 3 or 4 reels.  He hasn't touched the tackle box since the late 60's.  It is truly amazing to come across something this rare and then for him to give it to me?!?!  I am married into the family.  He has other grandsons and great grandsons....Truly blessed and thankful for each piece.

That is really cool. I inherited my godfather's vintage gear. In the last phone conversation we had, I told him about the vintage reels I was buying, and he told me about all of his first bass rods that he still had from the early 50's, when he was a kid and just getting started. When he got off of the phone he told my godmother that he wanted me to have his old fishing gear. Two weeks later he passed.  Got a tear in my eye now. He meant the world to me. But now, I have a piece of his life, something that meant enough for him to carry on all those years. As far as possessions go, those are my prizes. It's cool that he thought enough of you to give you his box. Cherish it.
