Every year in early September, I take a couple of weeks off from bass fishing and hit the salmon jigging. Normally, every thing goes ok and after the Chinook run up the river I go right back to bass.
Well, this year those couple of weeks of jigging were sprinkled with one equipment failure after another.
Blown water jacket gasket? check
GPS mysteriously disappears from fish finder? check
Colors on fish finder all turn to red? check
Trailer bearing blows up for no apparent reason? check
Onboard battery charger gets fried by lightning? check
I promise to the Bass Gods to never again tie a Swedish Pimple onto one of my bass rods again. At least until next September...
Maybe you should buy a dedicated salmon rod??
I like your attitude, Waterfoul. Heck, I think I need two.
I don't think it was the Swedish Pimple. Had to be something else. Are you a redhead?
HAHAHA Dan, you're either psychic or you're onto something.
My mom's a redhead and my beard is red. Well, not counting all the grey.
McFish, where is it you jig for Salmon??? I see people doing it in the Pere Marquette while I troll for them.

Muskegon Lake out to Lake Michigan. I would be happy to take you out next year. I have full intentions of traveling to at least two different northern ports next year to make the short jigging season a little longer.
I had the pleasure to meet fishstick this year while jigging. I saw a bass boat a couple of days in a row with a guy in the bow jigging. I asked the guy if he was a member here. Sure enough, he was.
I LIKE hearing that! I am hoping for complete outdoor person domination! We all have a lot in common! We should hang out together! Even if it is just on here! :)
Ahh yes! "the checklist" . Got one of them too. :D

I'd like to not see my checklist for awhile! Lol
You forgot to add
2nd and 3rd rebuilds due to cheap retainer clips on pistons - check
new powerpack - check
new high speed jet advance module- check
hard wiring in trolling motor in rain and 2 foot waves cause the 2 month old plug went kaput- check
new starter - check
front graph skimmer transducer epoxying back together - check
taping said skimmer back together in 4 foot waves cause the epoxy did't hold - check
Of course the motor issues all happened seperatly each on a different week
It might not be the bass gods. Maybe taking only a couple of weeks a year to fish for salmon. May not please the salmon gods!
Oh, it's not the bass gods. It's just karma. You know, when you laugh at certain GLB members at Speedway on Tuesday mornings, because said member is going to work and you are going fishing? Yeah, that's it!
Dan, you like it when your members meet? Here's one for you. Mcfish and I met through here, and come to find out, our wives are related. Small world.
Anyways, sorry about your bad luck. Or karma......... This Tuesday you can't laugh at me. ROI Outdoors and I will be headed for Manistee Lake at 5 a.m. Haha!!
Sorry to hear about all your troubles Mcfish, was nice to meet you out there! Luckily I haven't had any issues with the bass gods other than the bass bite being tough for me this weekend.
Still getting a few salmon out there too, but the bite is not nearly what it was a couple weeks ago. What a blast on bass tackle!
fishingpollack were you in the TC tourney on skeg today? I didn't know it was the second day of TC Bass's 2 day tournament. I came home to fish for a week and came in about the time they were handing out checks. SOunded like yesterday was MUCH better than today
All I know for sure is this 'Karma' person will NEVER be a member of GreatLakesBass.com!!! :D
Why not?
No I wasn't. I was just out on Elk puttering around fishing. I was in Indian River fri and sat for the NBAA fall classic. Saw 2 guys on my lake . Felt sorry for them. Theres nothing left really to catch out here on Birch.
