Title: Cass lake drop shot classic report and results.
Post by: dartag on September 14, 2013, 06:09:49 PM
5 boats showed up for the big event. The weather was cool at the start but warmed up.   Ypsibass joined me on my Ranger.  We started in the middle of the lake with gulls swooping and fish breaking around us.  We caught some but the bite died pretty fast.  We then headed off to my normal spots and we caught fish all day.  Problem was most were just keepers or a little short.  We got a limit and culled a few times.  Strangest part of the day was about 1:30 we were in one of the back bays and a whirlwind came across a point.  We were in the middle of it.  We just kind of looked at each other and said What was that.  Everyone weighed some fish.

Results

Doug and Kyle                    10.5 lbs     2.8 big bass
Dartag and Ypsibass            8.5
Manxfishing                        5.8
Tbone                               3.14
Bobo and Dog                     2.3   ( I think the dog caught it )

Some pics of the event.  Wish I could have gotten that whirlwind thing on video. It was wild.

Glad you had fun and survived the whirlwind.

That winning stringer sure looks like it was bigger than 10.5 lbs.

Cass fish are skinny. That is about the normal weight you see out there.  We caught a lot of 13.5 inch fish.  They were spitting up little minnows. I found quite a few in my boat yesterday

Sounds good to me bob.  Does not have to be drop shot but it was fun to use 1 rod for 6 hours.

Sept 28 looks good to me.  I like Middle Straights.   Only about 2 miles from my house.  Plus no wake until 11:00.

Wow - What a weekend. BFL Lake Erie is a monster sometimes. ........ sorry I missed this....

OK - First off - I think I'm ok to do the next few Drop Shots with y'all, and I have a special new Drop Shot Rod that y'all might be interested in:

St Croix Avid 6'9" Med. Premium Drop Shot Rod. Selling to best offer in the next 2 weeks. (Saving up for a Paraya). PM me - Brand new it was $189. I'm thinking $140 - $150 should do. I'll post it in the for sale but I figured I'd give you DS gurus a shot first.

Think I have a club event on 9/28 on Erie.  Have to see next week what the deal with that is first.

Ypsi- you do have a club event on the 28th.  The River should be really on by then.  Only thing is a lot of the members will want to fish the Canadian side.  But, you don't have to in order to find fish.

Mojo- I already have the Avid ML drop shot rod.  I can't imagine why you'd want to get rid of it.  I love mine.
