Title: Hardy Dam Pond
Post by: JPawloski on September 13, 2013, 08:28:47 AM
My buddy and I are planning to fish Hardy Pond on 9-16-13. We're not very familiar with the water but are hoping to land some decent smallies. If anyone could offer some tips on spots, presentations, etc. we would be grateful.

I like to work the area north of big bend park. Good weeds around the island and also a couple good cuts on both sides of the lake. Use what your confident in around weed beds. I normally fish the lake during spring and early summer so fall time I'm not sure of. If I was there in fall patterns I would try weed flats and cuts

Go somewhere else, Hardy is terrible in summer/late summer.

Thanks for the replies. Any alternate lake suggestions? We would like to stay within an hour of GRand Rapids.

Reeds Lake.  Jigs, drop shots, senkos, texas rigged beavers or curly tailed worms.  Some BIG largemouth in that lake, no smallies, but big largemouth!  Fish drops with weed edgers and the sunken islands.

I enjoyed Hardy Dam Pond the time or two I fished it in September. I like fishing rivers so I went upriver and caught some walleye, lots of pike, and a mix of a few largemouth and smallmouth bass. Hit one little smallmouth hot spot. I would think there are more hot spots if there's one.
