Title: Lake Orion August 10-11th
Post by: Grinny on August 14, 2013, 09:27:39 AM
My in laws live on Lake Orion, so I took the boat this trip over. Woke up at 6 am on Saturday and started fishing. I started with a frog because of the low light and there was some matted weeds on the surface in front of their place. I had a big fish blow up on it but missed him. I caught a couple small fish on a tube, and then ran into another boat, and he said there was a 25 boat bass tournament going on that day. I didn't feel like dealing with all the boats so I only fished til 9:30 and headed back. Biggest fish was 3.5 pounds, but over all the bite was pretty slow for me.

Sunday the bite wasn't much better, I landed 6 largemouths and a couple pike. Bass were on Senkos, and the pike on crankbaits.

Very slow compared to how it normally is...

Orion has a tournament every couple of days all summer.  I bet the fish can tell the differecne between a Ranger, Nitro and Skeeter live well by the end of the summer.   There are some great fish in that lake.
