I am staying at a friends lake house on Mullett lake for the first week of August. He is at Dodge Point, upper left side of the lake. I am an avid tourney fisherman, but have never been on a Northern clear water lake. I was just wondering what colors, types, and sizes of baits to throw. What depths? Have the mayflies all left by then. Will the be schooled up deep. I have GPS and Side Imaging on my boat so if any of you guys would be willing to share some community hole cordinances I could fish that would be great. I figure tube and Dropshot will be the ticket, but if the mayflies are still there, maybe topwater and jerk baits. Sorry if this was not the correct place to post, I am new to this site.

I will be up there the second week in August on vacation so you will have let me know what is happening.  I was up there 2 years ago at about the same time and here is what I learned.  There are actively feeding fish in the rivers.  You shouldn't be too far from the Indian river to the North where you are staying, fish it.  There is a ton of wood, grass, rock and gravel.  I also know that a fellow GLBer won a tournament in the river at the south end of the lake 2 summers ago.  There is a ton of deep wood out on the break in front of Aloha State Park.  The mayflies should be hatched and gone by now, I would agree with tubes and DS, I would also try cranks.

Don't forget topwater. Especially in the morning. Even though the mayflies are mostly done, there are big schools of minnows out there roaming around outside of the rocks and some of the bass follow them, or watch for them if they approach points, bars and humps.
