Maybe you need to look into some type of pre-fishing ritual sacrifice...? Something like that? Probably still legal way up North...

Sorry. I will send you someone elses good luck. I'd send you mine, but I'm a redhead. Anything could happen.

Thanks Jeff, you ain't kiddin bout the luck.

Found out that the oil injectore quit, dropped #3 cylinder, and shattered the ring retainers on every piston. the machine shop that did the 20 over bore the last time recommended the piston company due to no OEM merc pistons in 20 over.  SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  it's now 30 over with all OEM parts  courtesy of a veryyyyyyyyyy peeed off mechanice and shop owner. They went after the  company that did the block.  It should be back together next week.

Now  I just have to visit the porp show and grab a 23 and 25 3 blade to test and see which is better.

Used the mechanics 87 saber cat last night. Neverrrrrr everrrrrrrrrr back off plane to idle  instantly. Seems the backwash reaches the drivers seat. Fished witha  wet can all night.  :o

So like um. I got it back wed night.   Been in since what   late june. Hard to keep idiling.  They call boat #3  , I hit it . It dies!. Right next to the mechanic in boat#4.   Today I adjust the low idle . Runs awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!.    10'th trip around the lake at a milddddddddddd    4500 RPM's  and  KAPOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

I just don't know what to say . I know exactly what happened, but I am at a total loss for words.  Oh and by the way.  I had to cough up 900 for the piston I fried that happened originaly when the oil injector froze up.

So lets review.   900.00 for repair #4 ,,, Never bore it out at .020, EVER.  Cause you have to use aftermarket pistons cause they don't make OEM .020 merc pistons. And their retainer clips for the rings are , as far as I am concerned, total garbage. thats 3 sets of retainer clips that have shattered within 50 hours of rebuild.

Excuse my ignorance and this may be a dumb question...I am a 2 stroke Motocross guy and really don't know much about Outboard engines but have been in deep in just about every other 2 stroke made....

I have never heard of "Piston ring" retainer clips.....It's not the clips on the upper rod journal wristpin is it...??

Just trying to learn something new....

Sorry about all the hassles you are having...I have had the same experiences with MX bikes..It seems like once you have to go to a Wiseco or some other aftermarket piston things aren't as bulletproof...

unfourtinatly it has to go back to the same marine  Dan.  I can't afford to shell out the coupla thousand  outa pocket to have another place rebuild it . I would have to end up sueing the original rebuilder for the money and who knows how long that would drag out.
