Today we had temps in the low 80's with mostly sunny skies. It was darn near blue bird skies. Started around 10:30 and finished up around 3 so it was a short trip. I was able to find my first fish on a weed edge in about 5 feet of water. Second fish came in the same area and was about the same size (12 in). Fishing the same area, I was able to land one more fish that was 3 lbs. Around 1 I found a decent number of fish on a steel sea wall that has a 10' drop right next to it. First cast produced a 2 lber drop shotting a Net Bait craw in blue and green flake. Second cast produced another 2 lber using the same lure. A few minutes later I caught a 12" smallie which was my first smallie of the day, all on the same Net Bait craw. I changed lures because that one fell off. I ended up using a Yum Wooly bug which is what I caught the 3 lber on. Next cast was to an off shore log, bam, a 2.5 lber. I didn't even know he was on until I shook the rod. I ended up catching a couple more 12" dinks in the shallower areas (<5') For my first day drop shotting, I am ecstatic. I haven't had a day like that on Wixom with these conditions in a long time. Thought most were small, I feel like with more time I could have easily put together a 12 lb bag using a technique completely new to me. Here is a picture of one of the fish...
