Title: Wiggins Lake 7-6-2013
Post by: Big dreams on July 08, 2013, 01:14:19 PM
My first clue that I should have turned around and went back home was when the Amish beat me to the ramp! no joke!  ???

This lakes kicked my tail.  I tried fishing shallow with poppers, spooks, frogs, shallow diving cranks and soft plastics with no luck on any of it.  I had 2-4 local's at any given time in their fishing rigs fishing with live bait and I didn't see any fish caught.  Fish were breaking the surface more often than I have seen yet this year.  I tried switching baits, colors, presentations, structure, cover, ets...  I had one fish get off on the main lake but I am unsure what it was.  I did catch one pike roughly 30" in 5 ft of weeds.  Other than that, I did not see a fish all day.

One thing I did notice is the lake just had a massive mayfly hatch and there were thousands of mayflies all over the lake.  Was a tough day on the lake.

Mayfly hatch will do it. I was at tippy for seven hours without a bass.

lol I did not use drop shot.  Looking back, I wish I would have.  The only water I didn't touch was 20+ but with the water temps in the low 70's, I figured they would be up in the water column.  One of you guys down state need to take me on St. Clair to become more familiar with drop shotting!  ;D
