Title: Regional Olympic Development Soccer Camp
Post by: Skulley on July 06, 2013, 09:55:03 PM
This week my son Alec and the rest of the 2000 birth year Michigan ODP Soccer team will be traveling to Rockford, Illinois to represent the State of Michigan in the regional tournament. They will be playing Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, and Ohio South. Those games will be played in a round robin format and the teams with the best record will play a championship final. The Olympic Committee will then pick from all those kids from the tournament, 18 kids for the 2000 birth year National Team. There will be 16 field players and 2 goal keepers. Last year Michigan won so we are defending the regional championship title from 2012. The 2013 team is very good and exciting to watch. I'll be accompanying him to Rockford. I'll post results as they come in. The tournament starts this Wednesday evening and runs through Saturday morning. Hopefully Alec will stand out and be selected for the National Team. He may not only be the first GLB member to make the National Team but also the first in his soccer club to make the National Team.
