I went to 4 different outdoor stores here in TC and found only a single 200 yard spool of Vicious 12 pound test clear. Why we don't have a Cabelas , Franks, Northwoods, or BPS up here is byond me. :(
The best prices I've seen for vicious line is that online tackle shop that can't be named on GreatLakesBass.com.
Did you try Gander mountain?
You do have all those lakes in exchange for no big box fishing stores?!? I think that is a pretty good trade...??
If you break down and ever decide you are forced to order online, Bass Tackle Depot (https://www.basstackledepot.net/aw.aspx?B=1&A=86&Task=Click&TargetURL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.basstackledepot.com%2fsearch.aspx%3fmanufacturer%3d1271) has really good prices on Vicious Fishing Line (https://www.basstackledepot.net/aw.aspx?B=1&A=86&Task=Click&TargetURL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.basstackledepot.com%2fsearch.aspx%3fmanufacturer%3d1271) and buying from them through links on GLBass actually helps this website unlike that other company (which does nothing for the traffic they get from this website)...
Thanks and good luck. I hope to be driving around your tackle shop-poor, but fishing lake rich part of the state sometime this year!
Gander mountain is one of the worst up here rudy in my opinion.
its a good trade Dan, but when ya can't get gear ya need that day . The trade off seems worthless LOL
NOOOOOOOOooooooo... use old stuff. The bass are STILL there!!! :)
I did use old stuff, broke off 2 new spinnerbaits and 1 spro walleye shad bait ya cant get here along with the planer board attached to the line to the fish. Old stuff is expensive to replace . Like my boat :D
everything at BTD is on sale 25% off. includes reels and most brands of baits. I just bought a bunch of lobina and lucky craft baits and saved about 50 bucks
Sounds like you need to make a road trip. What about Jays??
What are water temps like on GT Bay? How about Burt/Mullett?
When I'm in gaylord I stop at Jay's. I try to keep my spending on Michigan comapnies if at all possible. Just Gaylord is a hour hour half trip and we just hit 4 bucks a gallon.
As for GTBay. Beats me. I have yet to have time to make it out there. Plus blowing out my recently healed knee dosen't mix well with standing and tossin spinnerbaits all day. I would guess it is in the mid 50's if not 60 , but this weater at night will cool it off. Calling for heavy frost for the net 2 nights.
My fav lake up here is on fireeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Like your knee?!? Better get that taken care of!! Makes my knee hurt worse just thinking about it!
Nice that you try to spend your money with Michigan companies. I like to hear that.
For anyone who does order online, I appreciate thedude mentioning the 25% off Bass Tackle Depot sale going on now until 5/27/2013. If you check it out, please click the BTD link on the right edge of the forum in the green column. My server hosting bill will thank you! I do thank the person who used it today! Very appreciative!
I was a man about it Dan. Wrapped it in an ace bandage and went to work and took a asprin :D :D
Matt Willis! 3 aspirin for a gunshot wound... 'I'll be fine...' ;D
First, I was on west GTB this past weekend. Surface temp, 40.7. Ouch. Still caught some fish, but it's a tough bite still. Inland lakes are still cold as well. Not sure about Mullet, but I will be up there for the first BFL next weekend. Can't wait.
Second, I have been thinking about opening a tackle store up there for years. I have lots of family up there and the girlfriend grew up there. Could use a steady home base for my hand pour company too. Would you guys come to my store?
Cabela's in Grandville does not carry Vicious line yet. The store hardlines manager is sponsored by Vicious and is trying to get it in, but we'll see. It's hard to add new items to a big box. If you go to the new Vicious website, (please use Dan's link and then once you do go to page 8 in their line product section) make sure you order the Pro Elite Fluorocarbon. It is a different and new bird and much more supple than their first Fluorocarbon which still comes in green box vs. the red Pro Elite Fluoro box. Also if you plan on a trip to the Cabela's in Grandville from say Traverse City, be sure you check ahead on items. That store has been going gang busters, and to be sure they have your item when you arrive order it online, and have it delivered free to the store. Then when you get there for that main item or items, you won't be disappointed that it is not on the shelf. If you decide you don't want what you order online when you get there, it might happen, you just tell them, and get your money back. No big deal, and everybody is happy, happy.
Their online selection is way, way, bigger than what is available in the store. They cannot fit all of their online products in any one store.
Also remember, this is for you Mike, their regular Cabela Club Points expire in a year. If you have a Cabela's Visa, your points don't ever expire, and it gets you a number of perks as well, like $5 shipping to your door right now, and entries to the store's special events, etc.
They seem to be the only game in town that has points that expire. Ours never expire.
And Dan is right... that place has been beat like a dead horse since it opened. Glad I'm not in the truck crew there!
