Title: Where to get a couple Curados repaired?
Post by: Waterfoul on May 15, 2013, 02:30:19 PM
I have a couple of the older bantam Curados with some bearings making a lot of noise.  Normally I would have sent them to Reelman Dave but with his passing I'm at a loss as to where to send them for repair.

Anyone have someone they use and trust?

I had Stuart's Reel Service do some work for me last yr. He did a good job. He is located in Mundelein, Il. His # is 847-837-1610

I think the Bantams have a bearing next to the spool with a pin holding it in. If thats the case you are going to need pliers with a hole drilled on one end to get that pin out to replace the bearing.

I agree with Dude.  Shimano offers videos on line that show how to break down the Curados for cleaning.  Replacing the bearings shouldn't be that hard.  Admittedly though I've only cleaned them and never attempted bearing repair.

I own several of the old Curado B's and love em.  This spring I picked up a Curado G.  Oh my, what a reel.
