i guess that makes bassfisherman bass fisherman :o :o :o :o
Bassfisherman,
Have you ever looked at making your own spinner baits?
Places like Janns Netcrafters and Stamina have bulk heads, blades, swivels and such.
It might be a bit more expensive than $1.39 each. I think the last time I put together an order list they worked out to about $2.50 each.
But the difference is in the quality, for that $2.50, you can make a Nichols or Strike King quality spinnerbait which would normally cost you $5-$7 each.
Plus you get the satisfaction of customizing and making your own baits.
I was just curious, I think I read somewhere that you have a lot of time available to you.

I'd be interested in making my own spinnerbaits. I really wouldn't know which components to buy that would make a quality "Nichols" type spinnerbait. Care to share your order of what you buy and where? I use to have a buddy that made Supreme Spinnerbaits. He bought the company from a guy down south and started making them himself and then he sold it got it back and sold it again so my supply is out. I like the Ohio pro lure spinnerbaits well, but like you say I'd like to give it a try making my own. Kind of like those Orvis guys do with them little trout.
Make sure you all read my 'Growing Pains...' thread under General Discussions. Live and let live. Read what you want to. Don't read what you don't want to. Let's just try to let everyone be themselves as long as follow the forum rules.
Shoot! If BASS FISHERMAN wants to be 'Steve the pirate' meets bubba bass I'm all for it. But I suspect after he's hung out for a while with all us English majors here, he'll be sounding like a Harvard graduate by next summer!!! ;D
Let's talk fishin!!!
Dan,
I actually like going to stamina.com
You can shop-online, but I had them send me a catalog, that way I could sit down on the couch and do my research in a much more relaxing atmosphere. I don't have a parts list written down anymore.
To me.. they are a Janns that cater to more bulk sales. The plus side being that if you wanted to order 100 willow leaf blades to get the next price break, they would allow you to mix and match colors so you wouldn't get stuck with 100 white blades at a good price. I think Janns does that too, but it just seemed easier and a little cheaper than Janns.
They have the bullet style heads already to go, painted or unpainted.
It did not make sense to buy the wires and pour my own lead. For the price break, it wasn't wirth spending all that time pouring.
What I did then was take a Nichols out of the boat and sat down and identified all the parts needed in the catalog.
I think I got the $2.50 each price from buying enough materials for 250-300 spinnerbaits. That's a lot of money, but if you were to go in halvsies or threesies with a couple of buddies, it makes it all worth while.
I did see on their website that they were raising prices on Jan. 1, so I don't know how that will affect the pricing I put together last year.
Good luck, and let me know if you need anymore help.
