Title: Mona Lake 5/9 morning
Post by: Mike S. on May 09, 2013, 08:22:37 PM
I launched the boat at 6:30 this morning. It was a beautiful morning. Awesome sunrise, and very still. Nothing better than a near 70 mile per hour ride in the morning.

The water temp varied from 67 to 70 in spots. I couldn't help myself but to start out shallow, and I had to try topwater. It didn't work. I picked a point that I usually do well on, and struck
out. The transducer on my trolling motor was broken, and the water was pretty dirty. I quickly figured out that I needed to go out deeper.

After the move, I pick up a lipless crank, and on the first cast, success. A three pounder off of a dock.  I keep fishing, and pick up a few more on the crank. Then it was time to pick up the Senko. Around the docks, on the weeded edges of drops, and just up to shore, it was the tool of choice.

In 5 hours I boated 13 fish, and lost many others. We only came across 3 fish on beds. That surprised me. All in all, it was a good morning.
