Sometimes I like a little classic rock or jam bands like Dave Matthews Band. For tournaments sometimes I won't listen to anything and just try to prepare my mind for what I need to accomplish and talk some strategy with my partner

I usually crank up the classic rock, heavy metal and some other rock-related stuff.

When I was fishing tournaments, I did mix in Classical music because I read listening to a certain Mozart song made people smarter on tests afterwards... I don't know if I fished any better but it was kind of soothing.

Yeah... but what kind of music do you listen too?

;D :D

Actually, my favorite for a long time was Save yourself by Stabbing Westward but I seemed to be the only fan. Lately, I've liked some screaming song by Red ..? I think called Feed the Machine..? No idea what it's about but I like the sound of it - like 2 cups of coffee! Only song I know by them thanks to Ryan Said who was posting during 2011 about all kinds of music by bands I've never heard of while he was fishing the Elite Series. Thanks for this one song Ryan.

Day-to-day I'm an alternative rock guy but when I'm going fishing, my country boy comes back, along with my need for a heavy metal fix.  One of three songs starts off nearly every fishing trip, depending on my mood:  "Much too young to feel this da*n old", "If I hurry I can still make Cheyenne" or "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. :)

I like all kinds of music.  I basically set my phone up with all of my favorites through the years.  I have everything from Chuck Berry to Metallica.  Such as, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, America, Boston, 38 Special, Gaga, Wild Cherry, The Doors, Twisted Sister, Talking heads, Shakira, REO, No Doubt, Johnny Cash, Monkees, KISS,  Katy Perry, Hot Chocolate, Grand Funk, Go Go's, Flo Rida, ELO.
See what I mean???   ;D      Some of the artists I only have a song or two.

The more we learn about hoosiers... ?? ::)

Now that I think about it... maybe it's firemen?!? My old fishing partner had a strange and possibly eerie mix of music too and he was a fire marshall...

Well... maybe not a fire 'marshall' ? He always told me to quit calling him that! ;D

I did remember an old tradition I had in the early tournament years - I always played Nugent - Weekend Warriors on the way out of the work parking lot towards the next event! I believe my stereo at the time was deemed a noise nuisance around parts of Owosso and Lansing... kids ::)...

Both good songs Dan! I think it's classified as post-hardcore/screamo. It's also what gets me through counting and identifying zooplankton at work!

My fishing partner and I were heading to a tourney and I jumped in the truck and about fell out. This music playing was screaming and I I I, well I dont know? I said " what is wrong with you and what is it"?. He called it mega something and the next song was something biscuit.

Couldnt hardly fish the whole day cause my blood pressure was so high and I worked the baits twice as fast as I should of. Got home and had 6 beers and a Xanax just to feel normal again.

Now when we fish its country, old rock or nothing at all. I called that stuff mega biscuit cause I did not remember the name.

What a waste of $150 at the tourney!!!

Thats funny Dan.  I used to have a hunting traditiion, that I always played Nugent (Sunrise) on the way to my hunting destination.  It was sort of a spiritual thing I guess.

Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Linkin Park to name a few.  I usually listen to tunes before and during the launch.  The 15-30 minutes on the lake before take off, I usually focus on what I plan on doing (check water temp, weather conditions, reviewing GPS to insure I know exactly where I am going).

The current playlist (actually, CD's loaded in the changer) is a variety of genres. Herbie Hancock (this one is an eclectic mix in itself), Stanley Clarke, Living Colour, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jamiroquai, and The Fugees.

The music that is currently in there is there because I drive by myself most of the time. Actually the Herbie Hancock CD ("Possibilities") runs the gamut from jazz to pop to folk to rock to "the standards".

That said, I have been known to dial up some country western from time to time. And, being a native Detroit rocker, I grew up on Uncle Ted. I'm an "Old School" metal head.

One of my current CD favorites is by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Jazz banjo! How's that for a little country/jazz mix?

About the only music that I can't stomach (in heavy doses) is old Motown (go figure).

my good friend and fishing/tourney partner is a fan of rap.  I am not.  For the past few years, he has put together a "tournament cd" for us to listen to driving to the tournament.  It has got to be some of the most hardcore explicit rap you can imagine.  I still can't stand rap, but whenever we drive to a tournament, something just seems off if it isn't playing.
I have however been able to open his musically tastes a bit, so its not too bad.
Brian Schrams "Rockin Fish Tales" is a pretty decent listen if you want some good tunes with a fishing theme to it.

Though I haven't fished in a long, long, long time. When I used to fish I always had a custom cassette tape made up repeating the following  BLue Oyster Cult  Godzilla, ACDC For those about to rock , POD here comes the BOOM and Dwight Yokam Long white Cadillac and the Outlaws Ghost riders in the sky.  Don't ask me why, but when I was fishing I would constantly sing these songs in my head and it would seem to keep me at an even pace all day during the event.
