I had no intention of going fishing yesterday. I was sitting on the couch atching fishing how's when my wife tells me I should go fishing. It's after 5 at this point. So, I get dressed hook the boat up, and I'm off.
I launched at the conservation club on the northeast end. I figured I would just run through some docks and call it good. I head for the area I want to fish, and my buddy is already there. No big deal. I decide to head to the back of the condos. Plenty of docks there.
The water temp is 72. There's a good breeze. I make a couple of casts, while keeping an eye on a curious swan that is at best 2 feet from my boat. The weapon of choice, a weightless Senko. Under the docks nothing is happening. I make a cast up by the metal wall. There he is! Got it figured out. I boat 4 in a matter of a few minutes. I am now in the area of a storm drain. Cast to it, and game on. This one feels really good. It wraps me up in a shore station and breaks me off. I quick re tie and get back to work. I boat 3 more off of the wall.
I decide to move up by the ramp I launched at. The wind is making it hard to fish a weightless worm, so I switch to a swim jig. First cast, fish on. I didn't get a good hook set, and it got away. I had several good bites, but just couldn't hook them. Finally I put the joat on the trailer and call it a day. It was an eventful hour and a half anyways. Can't wait to call in sick Thursday, and start my 4 day weekend! I get to fish all but Sunday. Mama says it's Mother's Day.
Way to take advantage of an hour and a half. When you heading to St. Clair??
I really wish I was able to go Friday, but not until Saturday morning. My truck isn't going to make it. I now have a coolant leak somewhere, I think it's the water pump. With all of the home projects going on I just don't have time to fix it. Waterfoul is going to tow my boat over with his Tahoe.
Bummer !!!! There's no way I could go to St. Clair for just one day. Especially with the distance. We're heading up Thursday morning and returning after the Open. :)
