My son and I hit Spring Lake this afternoon. He had fished it Saturday with good luck so wanted to try it again. Got out a little afternoon and was surprised at how few other boats were out. We concentrated on north shores in one of the larger bayous off the main lake. A lot of small males up in the shallows along with the occasional big girl to liven things up. All together landed in excess of 50 with about a dozen going in the three pound plus range.....largest went just over four. All were LGs except one 3lb smallie and a 32 inch pike. Great way to start the season.
Nice. I fished that lake one time, probably 8 years ago, and didn't get a single bite. The only thing I do on that lake now is recreational boating. How was the water clarity? I would assume it would be pretty muddy yet.
Visibility was pretty poor, about a foot or so. Surface temps were surprisingly quite high in these back water canals and bays, upper fifties.
