It doesn't seem right to post in "Fishing Reports" as my CIR opening weekend was fishless. Had to work all day on Saturday and then took the munchkin to Reeds Lake today as the Thornapple was a muddy mess. A pair of hip boots in the truck would have been handy as the docks at Reeds weren't in. Without, I fished with wet feet.
No bites and then, as I trimmed the motor up to go shallow (on a mission to recover a *very* enthusiastic missile from the kid's Zebco 33) I notice a big crack and a hole in the top rear of the cowling. Not sure how I missed it from last fall (I remember a branch laying across the back of the boat cover after a storm) but, there it was. C'est la vie. We keep fishing, trying a variety of different tactics with no success.
Good news: Even fishless, we still had a nice Dad/daughter afternoon on the water. Bad news: I'll be spending the next few evenings sniffing resin, gelcoat and acetone. :-\'
Good news, bad news. And French too! Wow! Maybe this should still go in fishing reports...?
Good luck with the motor and thanks for being a good Dad!
