3 years ago I bought the old style Shimano Stradic.. After 1 season of use it was grinding a little and didn't feel right. I proceded to take it apart and clean it. Never worked good again. ::) Last Christmas I got the new model and I noticed on Saturday that this was grinding a little and not quite right.
With a name like Shimano I try to deny the problem but a friend of mine picked it up and said it wasn't right... Am I just bad luck or has anyone herd of this before. I read the curado story and they have had them for 12 years. ???
Does anyone know the name of the local rep...

When the new style 2500 Stradics came out there was a problem with some of the bearings. The plating on the balls would flake and then the grinding started. If you just got your latest reel at Christmas take it back to your dealer, they should hand you a new one, at least that's what I do. If it's a year old, then your out of warranty and will need to send or take it in for repair. :( If it is the bearing, (I contacted my Shimano rep and he sent me extra bearings) I install the new bearings for just labor and shipping, the bearing is replaced by Shimano :D. As far as your older Stradic send it a long and we can take a look and get it up and running. :D
Now is the time to go through your equipment and prepare for bass fishing in April and May ;D (unless you live in Mich >:()
REEL_MAN
Leo,
I highly recommend you send your shimanos to the reel_man. He just worked on 4 of my reels and they are better now, than they were brand new. He does great work and will get them back to you quickly.
