Wow, Cliff Pace you just won the Bass Masters Classic AND $500,000!!! How about a little excitement!!!! ???
I'm sure he's a nice guy. I'm sure he's a humble guy. But come on... that was the worst trophy acceptance and victory lap I've ever seen, in any sport! Laugh! Cry! Shout! Scream! Do SOMETHING! ANYTHING!! Oh well, maybe next time.
If you followed the blog it was kind of boring also. guess there is only so much you can do in print. They will probably have Ike screaming and yelling a lot. Be interesting to see how they handle his trolling motor issue. Saturday we get to see the edited for TV coverage.
Not exactly a very marketable winner for BASS.
Maybe he was in shock?

Crazy,
But there's a market for a guy that goes crazy over a broken trolling motor!
Maybe there were more then a few sleepless nights, Days were long with only a few bites
And he had no gas for jumping around.
He did what he went there for. He won the Bassmaster Classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No need to be a song and dance man. He's one of the few to win it.
There should always be a market for good fishermen.
I myself would rather take advice from those that can then those that just put on a good show!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey I completely agree with you. But lets be honest, for the most part the best personalities in bass fishing are the ones who are marketed the most. Certainly doesn't mean they are better fisherman.

I hear you
But it's still a fishing tournament
no points for style or personality. Winners take the cash
But style gets you more fans and a better following (which can equate to more $$ for you). KVD, skills for sure and a LOT of style. Ike, love him or hate him he has skills and a style. The same can me said for many many other anglers. Pace? Skills sure, but no style. I like the total package and though he is a skilled fisherman he will probably never be on my "oh, let's see what Cliff Pace is doing this week" list. Boring does not get my attention.
Mike next year when you win the BASSMASTER Classic you can show him how its done! ;)
Maybe he will get more talkative and emotional now that he has a career cornerstone win? I have heard he is already moving in that direction from someone who was at the Classic. He is obviously a really good angler who was kind of under my radar but after looking at his in the money percentage, I should have been paying more attention.

I'm looking for a key sponsor. You interested? ;D
Guess the trolling motor wasn't Ikes only problem. This is from his column.
For those of you who don't know, yesterday I yelled and cursed at a dog on a dock. It happened when I was upset about my broken trolling motor. It was not my finest hour.
Today I passed the same dock. That same dog came out but this time he didn't bark at me. He just sat down and watched what I was doing. The more I look at him the more I realized that I'd hurt his feelings. Feeling guilty, I moved over to the dock with my trolling motor.
I apologized from the bottom of my heart. It was genuine. (In truth, he didn't do anything to me yesterday. I had no reason to say hateful things to the poor creature.) He seemed to understand and I think he accepted my apology. Things are good between us now.
Another note to dog lovers: This thing is bothering me. Maybe I should make a donation to an animal shelter when I get home. It'll help the dogs and make me feel better at the same time. Becky and I will talk it over next week.
That's really cool that Ike wrote that in his column. It's neat the way we can get an inside glimpse of what these guys are like
I have style. I should win it and show ya how "style" works! ;D
Remember though... they probably don't allow ducks at that level...??
when cliff pace was interviewed the other year he said" i know alot of people go home in between tournaments and relax but i go to my home lake and fish everyday that i'm home,i'm addicted to geting a bit", cliff is very complex and focused inside that head of his,he was second to alton at the classic a while back......
cliff also said"i don't worry about what i need for the day or fill my head with that stuff,i just catch as many as i can and bring the 5 biggest to the bank"........i like his thinking, exciting,i think there alll exciting if u find out who they r....
these guys aren't millionaires sons, they have all worked very hard to be where there at.....exciting.......is in the beholders eye
and cliff pace is going to be fishing pro for his life time now....congrats cliff.....u have achieved the dream!!!!!!!!!!!
Good points.

Ummmmm, no sir. The win and the prize pay for the years past loans and hardships. It's the personality with its continued sponsorships that pay the bills, supports his future, and lets him continue to fish well after he can't buy a top 50.
i dont have any sponsors yet im always in the top 50. the best way to do that is fish tournaments with 30 boats or less, like i do.
That's also a good point.
Sort of... ;D
