Title: Classic Pick Contest
Post by: LAPORTE on February 19, 2013, 08:42:50 AM
Ok its the biggest event of the year in bass fishing. You get one pick and one pick only.  Whom do you pick and why..?

The prize to the first person that picks the winner is...me going out and buying you the winning bait and shiping it to your house.

It's hard not to pick KVD but I'm going with Mike McCelland because its his home lake... this should give him a advantage.

Hope Uncle or Nephew win but...... Edwin Evers wins first classic with versatility. This guy flat out catches fish.

Anybody but Aaron Martens. He is the biggest crybaby on the elite series. I'm a KVD fan, but I'm going to pick Brandon Palaniuk. He's been a contender in past classics. I'd like to see him do it this time.

I'll take the crews missle.  I got a feeling a crank will be doing good on all that rock and someone already picked KVD.

yup just reading all the players this time around and noticed that horton didnt make the cut...my bad, so i will always pick kvd but brent chapman has a lot of hype this year and going to throw swindle in there also.but i am staying with top water bite.

Tommy Biffle. He's due to win a Classic. He has the tenacity to do it. He's the best flipper I've ever seen, and he knows how to fish the rocks that abound on Grand Lake. That said I'd love to see KVD win or one of our Michigan crew.

I'll go with Jason Christie for the reason it's his home lake

So, Is it going to be a jerk bait bite?

OK Laporte, I know this is your contest and rules, but how do you get a pick to win?  So, I will pick Mike McCleland due to your default.  ( if that's ok by the rules committee ).

If a lot of people pick the same guy and he wins, we are going to send poor Don, to the poor house.

Jason christie.  I would bet 1.00 on
Nate Welam if I was in Vegas.  That would be a long shot bet.  Going to be interesting to see how he is treated there.

I hope you volunteer better than you pick!?! ;D I will be at Outdoorama watching from the outside like many of us. The only way I will fish in a Classic is to sneak on the lake someday at night!! (Someone already picked him but I'm still picking JVD too because I I want to see Randy deal with that, I want him to win and I want one of you to get LAPORTE's free lure!! :) )
Title: Re: Classic Pick Contest

I have to teach people to read rules carefully. If you pick someone who has already been picked, you won't make LAPORTE by you a lure!!! You have to pick someone new if you want to make LAPORTE by you a lure!!

I'm glad this is LAPORTE's contest and not mine... :D

I may have to see if I can code in a <gasp> smiley... You should make Bill Lowen your 'official' pick. Because Bill likes duck hunting and this is duck hunting weather!

A good prediction, however some have been known fold under pressure on the last day. Consummate professionals who have been there before have folded on the last day. Don't count out KVD, but definitely don't count Ike out either. Ike has a better shot. Today you swing for the fences.

he only has 2 fish now.  Most of the others have a limit.  Paulinick is leading by a few oz.

He was supposed to be throwing something cool like a vision 110 not a plain old football jig! Wasn't sure he was going to pull it off!

I kinda thought the same but he said to win it he had to slow down and throw a football jig with only 2 hours left....lol

So I ordered you a nice 1/2oz V and M jig... with my choice of color... (Green)

If you would be so kind to send me you address in a PM Ill be happy to send you your winning Jig.  ;D

I'm surprised he won. That has to be a nice feeling to cement your profressional fishing career this way! I don't know much about him because I've never talked to him. He's very quiet and I hadn't seen him smile much, if at all until the pictures of his Bassmaster Classic victory (I would be smiling too!!).

I look at his stats and I guess I didn't realize how consistent he has been. My only real interaction with Cliff Pace was when he was fishing the other side of the same small canal that David Watson was fishing the first day of Classic 2011. I was with David and we were both watching Cliff too to see if he was catching the same size fish, how many and if they were bigger. Funny that you run 100-some miles to Venice where there are a zillion canals and you still end up with company in 1 small canal.

Apparently, the change in weather sent the bigger bass packing because both boaters were landing lots of bass, but small to small keepers. After a while, Cliff Pace motored up and said, "I didn't come this far to catch fish this size" and off he roared. That's about as much as I know about Cliff Pace. He didn't smile, but it almost seemed like he was offering some advice to David. I've always wondered about that?
