my above ground pool just lost its water. a hose from the center drain slipped off and empted the pool. it was due for a new liner anyway since the last we can tell the liner was new in 1996. I'm thinking we will need a new liner etc in the spring. i would really like to give the work to a GLB member just to keep my money close to my friends
I have a 20 foot round above ground Doughboy pool and replaced the liner myself 4 years ago. It's not really that hard to do. I would recommend you buy a new liner from Discount Pools and Spa's located at 5 mile road and Newburgh in the strip mall next to Soccer Plus. John who is the owner is a great guy and was very helpful to me when I replaced mine. I know it because I am a patron of both stores in that mall and like you Bob live in Livonia. I would be happy to help you however I don't know what my schedule will look like come May. Travel soccer and fishing take up most of my time during May. I will be working at Outdoorama for DK on Feb 21 (next Thursday) and if you come by we can chat then too. The toughest part about replacing the liner is using your household vacuum to pull it to the sides and that will depend on what kind of shape your walls or pool frame is in. Mine wasn't so good so I have some wrinkles (big deal) and one spot that is a bit loose and not hugging the wall. But it works and as long as I can see kids back there, I know where mine are.
I will PM you my cell number and we can chat. Give me a jingle.

bob o, I just tried to send you a pm but your inbox is full. Please delete some of your old messages and I will send you my cell number or call Mojo for it or DK for it. If you have Got Fish?? number, call him. He has it. Got Fish?? lives just down the street from me. REVTRO also has my number. Fiker can get my number through a mutual friend and that's okay too. Can't think of anyone else off the top of my head who has it except for those guys. Easiest way is to delete some of the PM's in your inbox.

mail box is now empty, but the pool is not. i thawed out the garden hose and filled the pool over the weekend so far so good and holding water/ice on it's own for now
Sounds great. You just saved yourself about $300 for a liner depending on how big. More importantly you saved time. Let me know if I can help. Oh, if I were you I would add 2 gallons of chlorine to it too so you get no early season algae to deal with when you pull the cover off.

If he does that, he won't have no frogs though?!?
pool size is 16x32, the liner is a tad more than $300, but even that can't stop me from buying more frogs hahahaha FROGS for EVER
