Two springs ago I stayed at the Torch River Resort (some know it as South Torch Resort) at the SW corner approximately of the bridge over the Torch River at Torch Lake. It was nice and clean. I didn't pay but I think the prices were a little higher than average but decent for the location and room quality. The owners were helpful and friendly.

Decades ago I used to stay at the Elk River Inn Motel in Elk Rapids. It was slightly above average price for a motel at the time but nice. I think it is still in business but have no remotely recent personal experience.

Most of the time I used to camp around there in the 'old' days.

ER Inn has been gone for yearsssss Dan.   Only place I'd stay away from is Water's Edge. they are wayyyyyyyy overpriced for what ya get.  Ma works at Wandawood and they give out decent rates specialy for the places not right on the lake.  The Torch motel is nice also. Tons of improvements this summer to it.   Standard hotel lodging .

Thanks for the update. Shows how my memory is and my 'observation' skills... I wondered about that but it's been a couple years at least since I drove through town and I thought I saw the sign but the place looked a little stark... ;D

I think I did stay at Wandawood years ago once for some event that has left my recallable memory...? I think I need a defrag.

The 2 were nice enough. I was tempted. If I had a partner and didn't want to 'try' to get in earlier, I had planned to make a run for real adventure. Maybe another time...?
