Title: Muskegon Lake 11/20
Post by: Mike S. on November 20, 2012, 07:12:32 PM
The temp was right, so I flew home from work, grabbed my son, and hooked up the boat. We headed west...... A whole 4 miles to Muskegon Lake. The drive was exhausting.

Anyways, we .launched about 3:00. The lake was flat. Flat, flat. It was awesome. We fished two spots. Both had smallies!  Small smallies, but smallies nonetheless.

The water temp was 46 degrees, and there was barely a ripple on the water. Very cloudy. There's really not much to tell. We got 17 fish in the boat. Of those we had 2 largemouth, and 1 perch. My son caught the big fish.  We were mainly out for numbers. Didn't really care about quality. Kinda hard to hunt strictly for big ones with a youngster in the boat. It was a good 3 hours on the boat with my son. That's all that really mattered.

No you don't!  You always make it a point to drive past Muskegon to go fishing. You go beyond that even. You won't fish in Muskegon county this time of year.

You're right... I do tend to drive right past Muskegon this time of year.  But given the results we get up north it's usually worth the drive.

I fish Muskegon more in the spring and summer.   Not really sure why we never hit it in the fall.

Always nice to see a picture of a kid holding a fish.     ;)

I'm trying to get him hooked. Every fish gets him a little more interested. That one was the big fish of the evening, so he felt he really did something. I made a big deal out of it just for that reason. I want him to want to be in the boat every time I take it out.

Keep it up and he'll be your next tournament partner!  Teach him how to net a fish too... it's a skill some guys I've fished with just don't have (such as my Monday night partner this year!).

For a minute there, I thought you were picking on me for that day on PM.

Nope!  Not at all.  I think we both chased fish around with the net that day!  LOL!!
