Title: Middle Straits
Post by: t-bone on November 12, 2012, 08:53:58 AM
Capt Charlie and I fished Middle Straits yesterday - thought best to stay off St. Clair with the wind - good call.
I have access to Upper Straits so I normally fish there and decided it was time to try middle straits.
The lake has a bit of a screwy ramp that is cramped and makes it difficult for a large bass boat and big truck to deal with.
Water temps were 48 degrees. The lake has lots of big flats and steep drops with good weed edges.
We caught 2 pike, 2 LM and 1 SM for a few hours of battling the wind. We saw some big smallies cruising the flats.
On my last cast, I hooked this 5lb LM on a black and blue jig. We saw fish on this point a couple times and decided to try it before getting off the lake.

Thanks for the report. It sure was a nice day to get out and do some late fall fishing. I wish I could have been out on the water. Nice job on the big LM!

Great day to get out on the water yesterday...except for the wind!  I've never been on the Straits lakes but it sounds like you had a good time.
