I fished LSC for the first time yesterday. We got about 10-12 smallies and most of them just short of 14 inch. Biggest bass was 4lbs with a couple more 2-3 1/4 lbs. Most fish were caught out from the 9 mile rd area near shallow rocky areas and the biggest ones came near the weed beds between sportsman direct and the 400 club. All fish were in 7-10 ft of water and caught dragging tubes and gobies right on the bottom. A few smaller ones on a perch colored jerkbait. What an awesome lake to chase smallies around on and I can't wait to fish LSC again!
The guys at sportsman direct were a great help to us. I also picked up a kustom kicker 2k freak jig from their store. I love the way this jig moves through the weeds and can't wait to use it all over the local lakes in my area
That sounds like a pretty good first time out. Well done.
you should try the Kustom kicker buzz and spinnerbaits in 10 fow ..... ;D
Also purple / pumpkin and red / brown Kustom Kicker Jigs roar on the sand flats in 6 fow in the same area you were in when the bite is slow ...... or on the coal piles in 14 fow........ Jigs and carolina rigs are under utilized for smallies out here..... but when Tubes and DS do so well, its tough not to put it down ..... Anyway those are just some options .... ;D
Thanks for the advice. Next time we head to LSC we will put all those techniques to the test. Hopefully I can make the trip back next May
You'll love it in May. It's E A S Y FISHING!
That's what I like to hear! Until then I might have to start working on my skills out on the Saginaw Bay
