Title: Don't worry I know what I'm doing!

Don't turn the brain off when you get behind the boat throttle (maybe a boating safety class is a good idea too?).

If the video doesn't show, press F5 or click your browser's refresh button. The video is from a boating accident on Lake of the Ozarks recently. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt. Probably very luckily since this could go quite a few different ways.

Be safe out there.

The driver went down pretty hard. A couple of the lady passengers went down real hard. You never know if their head hit hard or maybe they thought they had a possible broken limb. I've seen plenty of video of incidents that involved serious injury that the video didn't seem to demonstrate.

Considering the injuries I've seen in bass boats over the years from bad encounters with waves and wakes, it doesn't take much to go from embarrassing to deadly.

Total driver error.  More money than brains with way too much boat under his throttle hand.

I've boated Lake of the Ozarks many, many times.  I've even got seat time in a 38' Fountain (and Cigarette, and several other big power hot rod boats).  That lake can at any time, reach up and throw your boat in a direction you never thought it would.  Very rough piece of water on any weekend and requires as much or more respect as any of the Great Lakes.

You live and learn. I myself had some bad boating experiences as a dumb 21 year old with nothing better to do than drink all the time. I didn't own a boat, but really ha e the memory of a flat Lake Michigan, coming from Grand Haven to Muskegon. I convinced my buddy to jump the wake of what must have been a freighter?  Didn't look big, but put our 24 footer vertical with motor out of the water. When it came down, I ate the windshield and put all of my bottom front teeth through my lip. What a bloody mess.

Looking back, we were dumb. Glad I grew up. Even happier that we never hurt or killed anybody. I have definitely seen many hot shots that can't handle their boats. Power and ignorance are a BAD combination.

Fear the throttle.  Respect the water.  It will keep you alive.
