Title: Antifreeze
Post by: Dan on November 03, 2006, 12:54:04 PM
Friend of mine just bought a 25 footer for walleye fishing and it has a 225 Merc on it. They winterize it and he said they put muffs on and hooked it up to pump antifreeze into the motor. Never done that. Anybody else do that?

Never done that. Never heard of it. I would assume they pumped it through to force out water because I don't think it would stay in the motor. Hope they are environmentally-minded and recaptured all the runoff?

No way it would stay in the motor. And I'm guessin' that where ever it went isn't good either. :(

He bought the boat over in Saginaw and a marina there on the river did it.

never heard of that either - but, don't forget to run antifreeze through the livewell pumps. (use the pink stuff)
