Lt. Governor John Cherry is an avid hunter and has always been good to support issues we care about. Governor Granholm is in favor of both proposals 1 and 3. This is some information I received that some of you may have already seen, but maybe not everyone. I just believe in providing information that may or may not change any minds, but at least helps make an informed decision - that is very important. Thanks.

As fall begins, many of us will take to the field for hunting season. Full of anticipation we head into the woods wondering what the season will hold?a ten-point buck, a proud tom, or just a memorable day of experiencing the Michigan great outdoors. Yet the discussion of what this fall will offer is different. It will offer a choice, a choice about Michigan's conservation future.
We want to tell you the truth about what hunters can expect this fall, so you can join us in making the right choice for Michigan's conservation leaders. The truth is that a vote for Governor Granholm on November 7 will ensure Michigan's hunting and conservation legacy remains on firm ground. It is the right choice and the reason why we support Governor Granholm and Lt. Governor Cherry.
Truth: Governor Granholm signed every piece of pro-gun, pro-conservation bill that reached her desk - over 20 bills in total.
Truth: Governor Granholm signed the bills that repealed antiquated Sunday hunting bans, in Washtenaw, Hillsdale, Tuscola, St. Clair and Lenawee counties.
Truth: Governor Granholm orchestrated the largest land deal in the State's history, opening over 270,000 acres of forests, rivers, and streams for use by hunters, anglers, and trappers, and making sure they will be open forever with permanent conservation easements.
Truth: Governor Granholm has endorsed Proposal 1, which protects against raiding our natural resource funds, and supports keeping a dove-season here in Michigan.
Truth: Governor Granholm's running mate, Lieutenant Governor John Cherry, has long been an A rated, endorsed candidate of the National Rifle Association.
Truth: The Granholm-Cherry Team has been recognized across the state by conservation groups for leadership in bringing conservation to the forefront of their administration.

In all four of DeVos' "Turnaround" plans covering almost 100 pages, this is what DeVos says about the issues that matter to Michigan sportsmen and women:
Dick DeVos will promote and protect Michigan's outdoor heritage.
Generations of outdoorsmen and women have confirmed what most of us already know: Michigan is an outdoor gem. Whether hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, snowmobiling, sailing or running, or taking part in any number of outdoor activities, Michigan citizens have built a heritage of enjoying our beautiful state. Dick will promote and protect this heritage for us and for generations to come.
He also says he would be "a better advocate for these important traditions."
Elegantly stated. It would be hard to find a Democrat or Republican in Michigan who would object to these sentiments. But behind the sentiment, where's the passion for action to open our lands to hunting, to invest in our wildlife resources, and to assure our second amendment rights aren't infringed?
Perhaps you might want to ask a few questions during the weeks ahead:
HOW would Dick DeVos promote the interests of hunters?
WHERE has he been on Proposal 1?
WHY did Dick pick a running mate with an anti-hunting record, who voted twice against creating a mourning dove season?
WHY did Dick DeVos publicize his contribution to the Michigan Humane Society earlier this year, which is working to defeat Proposal 3?
There is so much you can tell about a person by the fights they pick and the company they keep. It is going to be our job to tell Dick DeVos to keep his anti-hunting agenda away from the Governor's office.
