Title: From good to bad in 3.5 miles
Post by: Waterfoul on July 14, 2012, 12:52:10 PM
After finishing 3rd Thursday night at Fremont Lake fishing with Fastrack we headed home down M-82.  Got a couple miles down the road and a big doe ran out in front of the truck... missed her.  Can't say the same thing for the yearling tagging along behind... right fender of the trailer pretty much cut her in half.  Bent the fender all to crap, right down onto the tire.  Left some very minor scratches/scuffs on the side of the boat that I'm sure will buff out.  We got stopped before I wrecked the tire fortunatly.  With some muscle and a prybar we got the fender up off the tire enough to get home.  Spent some more time on it at home and got it pretty well up and out of the way.

30 years of driving and not a single deer strike (which is amazing considering some of the roads I drive).  Killed one with the trailer instead.  It's a good thing she hit the trailer I guess... I have better insurance on the boat/trailer than I do on the truck!

That sucks. I have hit one deer. Got it with my truck on Apple about 6 years ago. However, I did hit a big dog last week with the Lumina I drive to work. I didn't see it until the last minute. The stupid dog was running down the middle of the lane I was in, and running right at me. It pushed one of my head lights in, curled the hood a little bit, broke the bumper cover, bounced under the car 4 times, and broke two exhaust hangers and the rear wheel well plastic. That woke me up quick. Gets the heart pumping at 5 in the morning.

Glad to hear all is good. Would be a shame to mess up the boat!  LOL!
