Title: Kent Lake?
Post by: zr7cat on June 23, 2012, 11:09:14 AM
Anyone have any experience fishing this lake? Going there this week for the first time.  I heard they have some pretty nice smallmouth there.  Looking for some spots to maybe locate some fish.  thanks.

Do a search on the forum on Kent Lake. There's tons of information already posted in fishing reports section and other places about this very popular lake.

There are some very nice smallies at Kent Lake, 4 pounders are not unusual and lots of 2-3 pounders, however Largemouth have a much larger population here than smallies.  Lots of 4-5 pound largemouth in Kent. I have not been out there in two weeks but last time I was out it appeared that they mowed all the weeds down on the east side of the lake, could not find any quality fish out here, concentrated on the west side of the lake and had steady action.  If I were going out I would concentrate on 8-15 fow, areas with less dense weed growth right next to shallower water with heavy weed growth.  Work on the shallow side of the breaks during the first few hours of the day(spooks, poppers, and frogs can be really productive on kent in early morning),and when the sun gets a little higher move to the deeper side of the break and bring out the soft plastics.(tubes, wacky rigs, texas rigs)  I personally really like to swim a jig out there(even in deeper water, hint hint) The big bass really seem to nail it.  If I were you I would target largemouth and you will probably end up with a smallie or two( the smallmouth in kent lake think they are largemouth)
