Title: RAM mount question.
Post by: Mike S. on June 12, 2012, 04:12:17 PM
Which RAM mount can I get away with using for a Humminbird 858c?  Will the one with the 1.5 inch ball do the trick?  It will be mounted on the bow. I really don't want to use the one I had to buy for my 1197. That one has the 2.5 inch ball, and is just enormous everywhere. Not to mention, the top mounting plate for it is 1/2 inch wider than the 858 is.

I used the 1.5 inch ball (111 series) on my Lowrance X28...I would say that is about the same weight as your HB 858...

Just be careful on how long of an arm that you order....The longer the arm the more leverage there is to work against the clamps....

Get the one with enormous balls and short arms.  I'm talking about  RAM still.  Especially where you fish and the way you drive.

I just installed a Johhny Ray on the bow and I like it.  I was going to put a Ram on the front but I couldn't find anything that I liked.  The Johhny Ray seems like it holds it in place very well and is half the cost of the Ram mounts I looked at.

What' s wrong with the way I drive?  The gas pedal is made to be on the floor at all times, right?

I think they said 'attached.' Attached to the floor.
