Haven't been there in a ton of years. Fun lake. If it rains, find deeper weeds around one of the old ponds and throw a buzzbait or spinnerbait. If it doesn't rain, start out with a popper in the morning about the trees near the creek channel. After that slows down, start pitching jigs or creature baits to the deeper, bigger trees near the creek channel or around one of the ponds, or into holes in the deeper, greener weeds (if it still has lots of weeds?). At least, you will have lots of things to cast to.

Only fished one tourney there about 5-6 years ago but we did pretty well (2nd place finish) fishing some docks with senkos and the deeper weed edges with drop shots and senkos.  Caught a decent one on a rattle trap too.

fished there a lot as a kid, not so much as of late however - tons of good fish in there. My dad's cousin lives on the lake. Buzzbaits around the pads on the main lake and around the ponds are good. Senkos will get plenty of bites. There are a couple good weed points on the main part of the lake with deep water near them that are good - also there is a river channel all through it with flooded ponds that create saddles, check that out wherever it makes a turn. Traps and shallow cranks work good. Bone used to be a good color. Docks and laydowns near shore will also hold fish.  I would hit the pad edges early and then work the channel swings and points with a crank, then move to a jig or worm in areas where you get some bites.  The area above the bridge is good buzzbait water as well. Hopefully the fish are about done with the post-spawn funk, should be good fishin.

There's a new launch?  Is it free and open to the public?  Or do I still need to launch crooked by the bridge over the river if I head down there some time?

That would be great if they finally had a real boat ramp on the lake. I enjoyed fishing it but it has been a looooonnnnggg time. There was no such a thing as a senko last time I fished it. I remember catching a nice keeper right by the road on a Pop'R as another club was launching. I got a standing ovation. Don't get many of those.

I've told the story a number of times on here about seeing the Amish launch their boat and motor with a horse-drawn trailer. That was something. Wish I had video back then.

yup! look on the satilite picture and you'll see the new boat launch on the south side of the bridge, has new parking area alsofor around maybe 15 rigs. the first time an amish guy tried to launch at the new ramp he ended up with just the top of his buggy showing, guess it's a little steeper than he thought :D. cant wait to go up there and get some big girls-not amish girls either ;D

Looks like maybe it has gotten a lot weedier than the old days when I used to go there? Can you safely launch a 20 ft bass boat there now? I always got stuck on the old ramp. Along with several other people.

I think I see the association boat ramp. Looks like a nice one with no parking. I think I remember someone offered to take me fishing out there? I should probably start being real nice to that person for a while so I can get a good look at how the lake has changed. I barely recognize it now.

Back when I first started club fishing, I thought that was a giant lake... I sure was in for some surprises over the years!

Oh. I would support that. We get a redhead in the white house and things will get fixed, period!

i'm not a red-head, just the beard. my wife is a redhead however, so really she'd be in charge.

That works for me too. She seems like a nice lady... Then later your daughter can be president since she is one of the last of the redheads on Earth.

well, first of all i couln't get my boat to fire, but got it going then and headed to the first pond around the corner after the log flat.

had my 26 year old son with me and caught a bunch of bass but they were all small but a lot of action. my son started getting really nice gills on a "stutzie" worm with a purple body and a pink tail. nice mess for supper,
i was catching bass on a white creature bait, a skirted twin tail from wayne's line of baits in a g-3 color and also a swimming jig with a swimmin senko cut short for a trailer.

so still a good day till i went to load and then my foward gear wouldn't work, good thing my 55lb minn kota was up to the task so i could get it close enough to load it. soo thankful for the west wind so it wasn't as hot as it could've been.. karol

Sounds like mixed results. I like that first pond. Still lots of standing timber?

Hope you get your motor straightened out.
