Laporte offered to take me out to LSC this Saturday so got up bright and early and lauched out of Harley Ensign. Started out the morning in Muscamoot Bay, but couldn't find any beds shallow. Temp was 50ish, water temps were 54 pretty much everywhere over there. Saw a couple pike throwing spinnerbaits, but no takers. Tried that for a couple of hours, but around 8:30 we left to find deeper water and actual fish around the Mile Roads.
Found fish finally around what I guess would be 11 mile road. We were out in 10ft deep water and for a while there it was fish every other cast or so on drop shot. Couldn't get a nibble on traps, jerkbaits, or an A-rig (which seems to be more hype than anything at this point). Don was throwing some 3" goby type bait from Case plastics I think in a dark green fleck pattern and I had some good luck with a chartreuse 3" Gulp minnow. Bite tapered off around 11 so we moved out to 13' foot trying to figure out where the fish went. No luck there so back towards shore into 6' or so and the bite picked up again.
Water clarity was amazing everywhere. Could see the bottom easily in 10' and we were fishing beds in 6'. It felt like cheating. Most fish were in a 3-4 pound range, but we had a couple 5s that broke off at the boat due to what could most likely be blamed on a lack of net.
Probably the best time I've had out on LSC (definitely caught the most fish) on my third trip out there ever. Third time was the charm! Thanks for the ride and the fish, Don!
We got them good... On "Jacks Worm" from Case plastics and 3 inch gobys from none other than Nemesis baits. The drop shot rocks out there...
thanks for going Rick sorry about that 2-1/2 ride home ( I-94 one lane sucks). Nuff said... lol
Oh yea Rick, Nets One the way... My wife got me a frabill Hiber net.... Just like Madwags..
Did you try Wayne's new triple threat tube?? ??? I've been getting them pretty good on that and Canadian Mist although Strike King Coffee tube in the Gobylicious has been pretty good too.
BD ;D
Don, you're fast becoming a Vet out on the golden body. I do need to scold you for your offense however. You know when you have rockstar days with new guys you're like a drug dealer - meaning- Ricks is a one hit addicted smallmouthhead.
I've been trying to break the addiction ever since I was dragging (against my will of course) into the famous EBA club, and fished with Vets like Revtro, Yukon, and co.
4 years later I'm still battling my addiction. Ypsi, check for the following symptoms:
* Willingness to be up at 4 am to get on LSC, but not for work.
* spend more time on this site than Facebook
* Easily justify a $200 dropshot rod, but struggle to buy lawn care and home things
* ability to skip neighborly events and some cousin events, but be able to commit to 12 hours on a back seat adventure in a heart beat.
All I can say is good luck Rick Ypsi bass, we're all here as your support group lol !!!!!!!!!
Guys, what other symptoms will he start showing ?
LOL
When he shows up to the family reunion and everyone asks who the dark hispanic guy is.
When your wife tries on a new dress and it reminds you of black neon tubes.
Involuntary eye twitching after too many days away from the lake.
Did Don ever get a net yet?!?

It's pretty slick. Should be a good tournament season for him.
That's good news for Don (and his fishing partners!!).
Who needs a net when all you have to do is lift them in the boat.
BD. ;D
Your are right UAW. Just lift them in the boat...lol But first you have to catch them. After severl trips to Erie and Clair. Last night I got a smack in the face... BELLEVILLE..!!!! I had one fish hit a tube like a freight train thinking surly I thought my first keeper was on. NO it was a 13" smallie Man that place puts a person in check quick. I caught several fish just no keepers. Oh well it was fun anyway.

That's why I try to avoid going there as much as possible until September. Fall fishing on Belleville is hard to beat. I've been out 6 or 7 times this year and every trip has been to St. Clair. I live about halfway between Belleville and some good Oakland County lakes so I usually head to the Oakland County lakes when going inland. Otherwise my first choices are always St. Clair or Erie. Travel time for me to LSC is 40 minutes and to Erie it's 40 minutes. Big water is better.
