Title: lowrance question
Post by: stackenem on September 21, 2006, 07:08:23 AM
I have a 332c gps/sonar now, can I hook another one in and run off the same antenna and will the card in the first one read into the second one or do I need a card in each one I do have the networking cable system in the boat.

It is my understanding that you cannot do this.  I believe the only data you can really share between two units via Lowrancenet is external sensor data...not GPS.  I could be wrong, but that's what I was told.

Does the 332c have an external antenna?  I don't remember which model has the internal antenna.

If it does have an external antenna, then you can share the GPS antenna signal so both units can have GPS capabilities.  You can NOT share a map or send waypoint/track/route information between the two units.  If you want to move that kind of information, you have to save it to a card from one unit and then load that into the other unit manually.  If you want to have a Navionics map on both units, for example, you have to buy two of them.

Hope that helps.

It does have the external antenna I was hoping I did not have to buy 2 cards.

I have a 332c on bow and 25c at dash.  You can share the antenna, but you can not share the chip data.  Lowrance is working on sharing waypoints between the 2 i have.  The 25c already has the firmware upgrade for sharing waypoints.
