Title: PoorBaby
Post by: McCarter on September 20, 2006, 09:14:38 AM
Its been kinda quiet in the playhouse lately.  Not much to talk about.  My job has been keeping me from spending a whole lotta time on the net.  But you havent missed too much.  I had a crappy year tournament fishing.  I struggled with boat problems all year long.  I didnt have the money to step up to the big leagues(BFL), again!  Which it really wouldnt have mattered anyway cuz my boat was very iffy.

I am a married man now.  Which is awesome.  My wife and I are in the process of buying a house right now.  When we do, there is going to be a party.  And your all invited.  Bring your poker shoes and beer drinkin socks.  And some gum.  I like gum.  So the good things in my personal life really outweighed the bad fishing season.

And just when i thought things couldnt get any better, they did!  PoorWife is pregnant with our first.  PoorBoy and PoorWife are gonna have a PoorBaby.  I am so excited i could puke, and almost did when she told me.  Another cool things is that PoorBaby is due 2 days before my birthday.  Hopefully she can hold out a couple extra days and we can have the same birthday.  Think of the money we would save on cake.

Now, i know what you are all thinkin.  But relax.  I figure it will be at least 5 years before he or she is competing in local tournaments.  So you guys still have some time to shine before PoorBaby lights up the local scene.

So, Congratulations to me and my poor wife.  I mean PoorWife.

Congrats, I was in the same predicament your in now a couple years ago.  It will work out.  Stay strong.  Don't look forward to next season too early.  You will set yourself up for a serious winter depression, bad news. ;D :'(

Oh and about the gum.  If you quit, I wanna shake your hand.  I have been chewing for 10 years now.  Need to quit real bad.  I'm about close to a tin a  day.  Chewing Grizzly nowadays, skoal is too expensive.  AHHHH, those were the days when you could get a good tin of chaw like Skoal or Kodiak for under 3 bucks.  Oh well, at least gas is going back down.

Congrats Poorboy enjoy the youngin's!

Just trying to keep it real...I don't know of too many babys born with goatees...unless you consider circus folk...do you have any bearded ladies in your family?

Congratulations PB!  Glad you could join the club!  My daughter is 21 months now and I still can't figure out how to find time to go fishing.  I'm sure these other guys will let us know how good the fishing is though.

My finance' lets me go fishing every weekend. The key is leave when they are sleeping and be back and be back when they just wake up...but my girl and son are late sleepers,so i got from morn till noon to fish....But for the first year i'd stick close to home, last year i didn't do to much fishing. But fishing does give you time for yourself when it's ok to do so.Remember, get that time for yourself,or you will be stressed out.

Although the cold weather that's coming in my fishing trips will be cut short for the rest of the year.As soon as my kid gets older we are looking forward to me taking him on my hobby with me.He'll hit 2 yrs in jan.

Congrats poorboy,good luck!

Thanks everyone.  We are both very excited.  We also just bought a house.  So we have basically given our lives an extreme makeover in the last 2 monthes.

PoorWife is very sick with the new baby.  She isnt gaining any weight becuase she cant keep any chow down.  She is sick 24 hours a day and its going on 3 weeks now.  The doctor isnt too concerned at the moment but said if she doesnt start putting on weight by the 12th week ( we are at 10 right now which makes PoorBaby 8 weeks old as a sweet little fetus ) she might have to start taking some meds to help her hold down some food.  Right now she will only eat Velveta Shells and Cheese, Little Ceasars ( and only Little Ceasars ) bread sticks, and Apple Jacks.  And always an apple or banana for breakfast.  Anything else and she is hurling in 5 minutes.  at least with the above mentioned she can absorb some of the nutrients ( i know, bread sticks are full of them ) before gagging them up an hour later.

The good news is, we had our first ultra sound on monday and everything looked good.  The baby was the right size and they determined the weight by measuring the lenth and width or something then dividing it by pie maybe, i dont know.  And we got to see its heart beat and then we got to listen to it.  Its cool to see it although you really cant tell whats what.  I mistaked my childs butt for its head until the nurse pointed it out.  I also noticed that it was moving around alot.  It appeared to be struggling to hold in the current, slashing back and forth like a smallmouth.  I pointed that out to the nurse and she looked at me like i was crazy.  My wife let her know that i can turn any situation into a fishing situation.  then we all had a good laugh.

Just an update for anyone who cares.

We found out yesterday that we are having a girl.  Size and weight are right, and everything is looking good.

The wife isnt puking anymore either, which is making both of our lives much easier.

On a side note.  My wife won a $50 bet with my old man, who was betting it would be a boy.  But on the downside, she said i cant use the money for fishing lures :-[

She is 18 weeks.  At first, the doctor could not determin the sex cuz the baby wouldnt move the right way or something, but i told her she had better try again.  So she had my wife get up and walk around then she checked again and called it out.  Our original due date was May 12, but after the ultra sound, they said it should be May 16 ( which is my birthday ) but i guess they dont change it once they give you the first due date.  They just told her she will probably go a few days over.  How the heck can they tell that?    But if she is born on my birthday, we can save a few bucks on cake and ice cream.  More Lucky Craft money for me :P  yeah, right!

P.S.  Blake, Have you heard anything about working the BPS Classic sale again this year?

yeah i had a hard time when my brother and his wife had their twins, i was a nervous wreck, scared to see how I do with my own.  its not blood and bodily fluids that bother me, its just the overwhelming miracle issue that really makes my head swim... i'm about to lose my man card so better stop typing!

You can go ahead and revoke my man card because I cried like a baby (pun intended) when my girls were born.  It is one of the most amazing (and scary) things I have ever seen...What totally amazed me is that when my girls were born and they were put onto the warming table to get cleaned up, they completely stopped crying and looked towards me when I started talking to them (I talked to them every day while my wife was pregnant...and they knew my voice!!)...crazy...

Congratulations PB!!!  Don't believe that garbage about having to ask two women if you can go fishing.  PoorBaby will want to go fishing with you just so she can spend time with you.  Remember I have a 12 year old daughter and she fishes with me all the time.  As long as she goes, the wife never complains about how much and how long I fish.  She figures that to be a break where she can find time to herself.  Believe me as PoorBaby gets older, PoorMomma will want to have sometime to herself meaning you will be fishing more than you know.  There is no one I would rather fish with than my own kids.  Believe me, she will want to become your tournament partner and always want to be your partner just so she can hang with "Big Daddy".  My daughter will be fishing the NBAA Championship up at Houghton with me in May.  She has been my partner since she was eight.  Best partner I ever had.  Never complains and always puts fish in the boat when you need her to.
