Title: Go to rigs for Saturday's CIR opener?
Post by: bigmojet on April 23, 2012, 11:51:28 AM
Just curious what tackle rigs will be on everyones deck come Saturday. I'll have a 4" swimbait from big hammer, KVd 1.5 crankbait in a chartreuse color, a red eye shad in red craw, a 5" yum dinger on a weighted owner wacky jig and either a blade bait or hopkins shorty spoon. Both the blade bait and spoon are new methods i am forcing myself to learn.

What's going to be interesting is seeing what stages these fish are in with the weather we have been having...They will probably be all over the place..

I have a tournament up North in the Middle of June..They are usually spawning tournaments but this weather could change all of that..

As far as this weekend I will be off the water...Hope to get out Monday if all goes as planned...

Then it will be Jerkbait, Crankbait, Dropshot, Tube rig......In that order...

The 2 lakes I will be fishing this weekend are drowned river mouths so won't be able to drop shop but I'm betting the technique would be killer.

3/8 home made Jig with a chigger craw trailer.  Probably throw the A-Rig for the fun of it.  love to watch that thing swim through the water

I hope you have better luck with bass on chatterbaits than I do.  Everytime I threw them last year, they turned into one of the best pike lures.  Very frustrating when you in a bass tourney.
What type of chatter did you get?

I got a 3/8 Strike King pure poisen in chartreuse /white.

I will be fishing in pike infested waters so I might not have it long.

Better bring you "umbrella rig".  Umbrella for the rain that is.

I won't make it out until Sunday but I'm expecting to find fish in all stages.  I'm hoping to find some prespawn fish with jerkbaits and deep crankbaits then clean up with a drop shot.  Of course I'll be trying out the A-rig.

And for the record...chatterbaits are excellent pike baits, but they catch bass too.

Fish in all stages??  Where do you plan on fishing?

I "go to" whatever they are going to bite on.  Too many to list.  The kitchen sink comes to mind.

Hahaha...no summertime patterns yet...what I meant was pre-spawn/spawn/post-spawn.  Hopefully I'll be out on Orchard or Wolverine but it looks like I may get called in to work this weekend.  :-(

I'm not telling. But, I'm also working all day Saturday. I hope. Right now I'm fighting pneumonia. I have a club tourney on Sunday. Hope I can breathe by then

Well, kinda late now, but I headed out today with four rods rigged: 1) A-rig; 2) Lucky Craft crank; 3) tube;  3) black and blue Nemesis jig and a chunk trailer.
