A game of inchesWalleye anglers tend to equate walleye fishing with deep water and structure, but the fact is sometimes walleyes act like bass. They penetrate the extreme shallows, often around some type of cover. Approach them closely enough to reach out and tempt them with a bait or lure, yet avoid spooking them. The contrast is, for walleyes, this means using a small, subtle bait, rather than a bold or gaudy lure like bass might respond to.
