Title: Bye Bye Poorboy, It was Nice Knowing You...
Post by: Cheetam on July 21, 2006, 11:35:38 AM
Guys and Gals of GLBass.com...

I don't know if everyone knows this or not, but PB is getting married in a little less than a month (Aug. 18 to be exact).  As a part of his "fairwell to life as you know it" party, we are thinking about having a low-key, fun fishing event the morning of Aug. 12 (lake tbd at this point).  We are thinking about meeting up around 8am and fishing for 4 or five hours (off the lake by noon, maybe 1pm) before packing it up, cleaning up, and heading out for Phase II of the operation.

Who on the board would be interested in meeting up and bidding fairwell to PB while enjoying some time on the water at the same time?

Also, if anyone has some ideas on how to run this event, I'd like to hear them.  I personally would like to have some form or element of competition (whether it be a low-cost tourney, biggest junkfish tourney, etc.).  Any thoughts from the Peanut Gallery?

Dan...can I post this on the Calendar?

Do you think PB will have a giant fishing blowout yard sale the weekend of Aug 26& 27. Bet we could get some real good deals.

Yes, it won't take long for his new wife to wonder why he "needs" so many rods and reels.  Let alone the tackle.
After all..... "how many does it take to catch just one little fish".

Yep, .... I see a giant garage sale on the horizon.....

Well isnt that nice.  As if i wasnt terrified enough already you clowns have to bring up the fishing gear situation.  I didnt even think of that.  This whole marriage thing is starting to sound a little suspicious.  Perhaps i should have given it a little more thought.

When i think of what i spent on the ring, man....that money could have bought some nice new shimano reels and plenty of lucky crafts.  Plus i would have still had money left over for Hooters.  And i probably could have even left a tip.  Maybe.

Truth be told, she is awesome.  She lets me fish all i want ( for now ) and i have no complaints.  As long as i keep the grass cut and keep up on the home repairs, take the dogs outside when its my turn, wash the dishes, do the laundry, take her out, rub her back, rub her feet, rub her bum, wash her car, get the mail, take out the trash, paint the fence, wax on wax off, buy her gifts, be nice to her older brother who is a total toolshed, spend time with her family, make her dinner, eat at all the places she likes to eat, rent all the movies she likes to rent, dont watch Rambo when she is home, learn to like shows like survivor, real world, hells kitchen, general hospital, gilmore girls, golden girls, put up with her love of eighties foo foo music like reo speedwagon, journey, duran duran, poison, cheap trick, and that weird chick who sang karma chameleon, and give her my paycheck every week......she lets me do pretty much whatever i want.

Life is good!  Now bring on the bachelor party!

i should be able to make the morning fish.. not sure about the after event..  Kent sounds good to me..   that way PB's boat won't take on too much water.. any lake is fine..    can't be big water since Kev my running buddy won't be there..

I'm in.  I have only one request.  PB must make his way into the water (not including the boat) at some point in the day.

I dont know about phase II.  I am allowed to fish whenever I want, but I dont know about "fishing" whenever I want.  Maybe I'll just tell her it's a benefit for underpriveledged kangaroos in Australia or something.  (j/k phase II is a go as long as Cheetam is buying)

Dont worry about him being in the water. If he takes his boat, he will be wet :o

I've been married 34 years this October.  Like any partnership, it's a compromise.  But,  that's ok.  I wouldn't trade my wife and kids for anything.
But, my advice is this:   in the first 6 months of marriage, whoever does a job first gets stuck with it for life.  (IE taking out the garbage, or making the bed)

How many non boaters do we have coming?  The woman wants to spend the day on the lake with the fellas.  Would that break some kind of protocol for the day?  Anyone have an extra Hooters shirt she can wear?

Just tell me we have 4 boaters and 4 non boaters.

I will be right with the lord after fishing the event so I will need to get myself back on the dark side for a little bit. ;D

PB did not make it into the water.  I am highly disappointed.  His boat didnt sink either.  He did however get stopped by the local authorities for speeding on the lake.  I think he got her number or something because she let him go and was smiling and waving and at one point I thought I saw her blow him a kiss.   :o

PB was slamming them and to my amazement hooked a fish while on the cell phone.... then handed it over to his partner who landed the fish.  Incidentally I think the cell phone call was a plea for more beer from someone who was on their way.  I know a 12 pack of beer was bought for the "guys" to drink, however only one of them made it out of his boat into mine and the rest were gone by 10am.

Cheetam was catching fish, Grant was catching fish and PB was catching fish.  I, however, managed to catch a 13.99999 inch LM.  This was my first time on the lake and I can tell you I did eliminate alot of water!  :-\'  I did catch 3 LM that averaged in size just short of the length of the 5" senko I was throwing.  I managed a bluegill bigger than those LM also.  Dartag, you catch any fish?  I didnt get to talk to you before you left.

The unexpected cost of prop replacement killed my budget so I had to miss out on the after tournament festivities.  Last I heard was poker booze and... booze.  They might not have survived.  Possibly killed by a lone shark?  I dont trust those casino "owners".

The following information I can neither confirm nor deny as it is still under official protest and has been submitted for review.  The evidence of which will be posted on the boards for the forum members to weigh in on I'm sure.

-The rumor goes PB had the biggest fish at 3 lbs and change until Grant pulled in with an unofficial weight of somewhere in the mid 4 to nearly 5 lb range.  Some believe that the scale in question might have been running low on battery power and wasnt reading right.  Others believe that this indeed was a solid "fat" fish.  A second scale was offered to dispute said weight, however the batteries in it were completely dead.  A photo was taken as evidence and I am hoping it will be posted soon for review.

Ahhhh, what a day.  I did get stopped by local authorities for making a wake, but i explained to the 'female' officer that my outboard had been giving me trouble and that had i tried to idle slower it would just staul out.  Then i offered her two tickets to the gun show, and she let me off with a warning.  we were not going fast, i was just pushing a lot of water, trying to trim the motor down as i went past her.

The rumors escalatiing that i, in fact, drank a 12 pack by myself out there are untrue.  I actually had about 15 or 16.  I did offer to share, but i guess 8 am is a little too early for most, so i was only able to offload 2 beers.  Thank god for my buddy Ted, who met me at the East boat launch with a fresh 12, a bag of ice, and a beer kozie.

We did manage to catch some fish that day, about 8 keepers.  Biggest was only about 3 and small change.  But it was fun to get back out on my favorite lake.  Grant brought in a big fish, but the scale that day was a little off.  I argued that the fish was big, but not 4.7 as the scale had claimed.  It twas a fatty tho.  I gave him 4.25 lbs on it.  He would have won the whole tournament had he not been 26 minutes late.  Just kidding.  he won.  but i got the money cuz i am the bachelor and thems the rules.

The after party was changed up a bit.  We had a last minute change and rather than driving out to Greektown, we ended up having a nice big party at my friends house.  I won a couple hundred bucks playing cards and got mulitple lap dances from my new friend whats her face.  Whats her face was very friendly not only to me, but to everyone at the party.  She claimed it was her last day 'on the job' and really went all out for me.  She did some things with some things that really showed off the fact that she had real talent.  She even made me do some things with some things that really showed that a bachelor party is perhaps the most embarrassing time in a mans life.

When it was all said and done, it was 6 am.  At that point, i didnt even know my own name.  Everyone told me that i had a great time, and i believe them.  My brain didnt turn on at all yesterday, but thank god it came back today.  I feel good now.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to the tournament in the morning.  it was a lot of fun.  We should do it again sometime.

Thanks to everyone who made it to the after party as well.  By far one of the best times i have ever had ( so im told ).  Some parts are still a little fuzzy.  Hopefully there are no pictures.

i did catch one nice keeper. not big enough to weigh.? my excuse is when Jeff and i fish together he gets to run the boat.? since he had to sell his boat after he " got married and had kids "? you taking notes PB.? i let him catch the big fish.? jeff caught a killer smallmouth that went 3.3 on my scale.? i waited until PB was done with the authoritys in the middle of the lake then had to head home..? ?glad all survived and had a good time.? next time lets pick a lake with clear water ( cass ).

i paid my entry fee in one dollar bills.  hope they were well deposited.
