They were definitely not the old Lions, although the are not playing like the team that started out 5 and 0.  The just seem to run out of gas at the end, when they really need a big play.

They can do it if they really want to!

They took some really stupid penalties and and when is Stafford under pressure, he isn't very good. He hasn't learned when to pull it down and run and he doesn't throw very well on the run.
We really do need to find a runningback too...

A good running back never hurts.

I would like to thank bigdog for not raggin' on us. Yes, they look a little like the "lions"...stupid penalties, miserable play from the o - line, can't cover kick-offs or punts, blah blah blah. I hate it. I do not believe a different rb would make any differance. To me, a rb is a plug-in spot. The starter goes down, you bring in the #2, you go play. The lions running problem has Nothing to do with who has the ball, but rather the weak o -line that is supposed to give him a little room. Is that too much to ask? If they think they're so tough...why don't they prove it? They're getting pushed around like 4th graders.  If they go lay an egg out in Denver....

I guess we need a new chant... O-LINE O-LINE O-LINE... something like that (though this sounds like low fat margarine)

I don't have to rag on you detroit1.  The old Lions have been showing up lately as I knew they would.  I still stand by my 8 and 8 prediction and it looks more and more like that's going to happen.  There are 4 games left and if my prediction is going to become reality, that means they will win only 1 out of the last 4 games.  So who will they beat.......and they really could surprise us all as the potential for winning 3 of 4 can be a reality also.  But I don't think so.  This week it is Minnesota at home, and then off to Oakland for the Raiders.  Then home against the Chargers and then off to Green Bay on New Years Day.  They can win the next three games as long as the 2011 Lions show up and the 2009 Lions don't.   :o    Remember the 2009 Lions.............0 and 16.   :'(   I haven't forgotten and I won't.  Even 8 and 8 is an improvement.  And now depending what the Bears and the Falcons do as well as the Lions, they still may have a shot of at least 9 and 7 and a wildcard spot if they can win 2 of 4.  Those three teams are competing for the 2 remaining wildcard spots.  But the Lions have to win.  I am not so confident that they will........too many what ifs.

I think they will rally for pride. Maybe Lions fans should have a rally and get them pumped up?!?

It's going to take more than pride for the Lions to win.  It's going to take execution.  In other words, they will have to execute on every play on both sides of the ball.  If they can rally early and get the fans behind them, then yes, that could be enough to win...........or not..................

Still going with 10-6. Playoffs!

That's the spirit! Pride and emotions often turn an underachieving team into a winning team!

That means they are going to win 3 out of the 4 remaining games.  I don't think they got it.  Any of the remaining games, except for maybe the Green Bay game they can win.  The possibilities are great that they can.  My fear is what we have seen out there on the gridiron over the last two weeks.  If that undisaplined team shows up it will be more like losing 3 out of 4.  I appreciate your optimism but.......................  Right now with the way things have been going for the Lions, I haven't eaten much "crow".  I'll shut up when they make the playoffs and no sooner.  I can't believe that they still have a shot to be honest with you..............but they do.  As I said at the beginning of the season, they are an 8 and 8 team that could surprise us all with a better record.  Those possibilities still exist.  The thing that amuses me is that you guys were talking like they were Super Bowl contenders.  They still are as long as they make the playoffs and that hasn't happened yet.  Good luck to them but I don't think they got what it takes.

Will they hold on to win today?!?
Title: Re: So what happened with the Lions today?

Well...they did hold on for the win, but only by the hair of their chin!!!

They are going to have to really step it up to win any of these next 4 games.  I think I said early on that 11 and 5 was not out of the question, and its still possible, but not probable.

Oh well, we can hope.  GO LIONS!!

And better yet, just wait until this team comes of age!  Who knows what is possible next year, with a more seasoned team and QB???
