Title: I think I solved my noise problem at home.
Post by: Mike S. on September 29, 2011, 08:07:48 PM
Tonight I decided that since the oldest 2 kids are getting more active, and running around more, I would put them on my cell phone plan.  They got their new phones about 3 hours ago, and it has been very quiet here at the house.  But, I have never gotten more text messages in my life, than I have in the last few hours.  Well, as long as it's quiet, I guess I can live with that.

Now, I have to be very careful not to send the wrong messages to the little people.  It would be horrible if they accidentally got some of the horrible things that sick people send my innocent phone. :o

I hope you got unlimited texting in your plan.  My teenager and my 11 year old combined send and receive over 10,000 texts a month.  Yes, that's ten thousand.    :o    I text about 500 times a month and my wife about 2000 times a month.  My teenager is about 9000 and the 11 year old about 1000 and climbing.  Yeah, unlimited is the way to go.

I never renewed my contract since 2004 when text messaging was just being invented.  No ambition to ever get another cell phone.

No worries. I have unlimited everything on my plan.  Just had to block internet access. Don't think they need to see the things they could find on the net.

Don't make it more complicated for sure. You probably have a nice cheap bill. Mine is in excess of $300 a month. 4 cell phones and a land line.

That will all change when they become teenagers. You will see your text message numbers go up. Then they'll want internet. My teenager has internet. She pays for it. I pay the rest as long as she is a student.

WOW $300/mo?  Imagine all of the gear you could have.  Heck, you could get a new boat!

Yeah, my cell phone bill is almost $200 a month since adding my kids. But, when I feel they are old enough, they will have internet access, and so on. It is part of the plan, but I blocked it on their phones. I was paying for a home phone, but nobody ever uses it. For the same cost every month, I could add the kids to my wireless plan, and get ahold of them any time I want.
