Well.. on September 17 I have a club tournament on torch lake, and well to be honest, you might as well slap a blindfold on me because I have never touched the lake.. its going to be on the torch elk skegemog chain. and any knowledge that could be shared with on these lakes would be greatly appreciated.
thanks all

I offer little help. In years past, i would spend 1 day ( in July) on Torch. I would fish the Clam river, caught decent L & Smallies, but really never fished Torch much. See? i am of no help, but good luck anyways....
Skegemog is the easiest lake to fish if you're new. Shallower. Lots of visible or almost visible cover. Torch is the hardest. Clam is fun for a mix of bass. Easier to fish but it does not produce the big fish like the other lakes. Elk is usually a little tougher than the other lakes. Maybe not as tough as Torch only because Torch is so big.
Are you launching in Skeg?
ohh I believe were going out of torch or a river launch not 100% sure.. I was told to drop shot elk really slow but is skeg a largemouth bite?
There are largemouth in Skeg including some nice ones, but there are more and bigger smallmouth bass in the fall. Weeds, reeds and lots of wood.
Clam has a bunch of largemouth in it too. It can be real good or not very good on any given day. Like so many places though, the smallmouth bass are the numbers and big ones in most of the 5 lakes in that chain.
we are launching out of Skeg. for the tournament.
If my memory serves me, it is a 30-40 minute idle from Skeg to Torch.
Slower going there and faster coming back. I'd stay in Skeg unless you know someone who knows Torch really well from recent fishing. I used to fish the craziness out of Torch but it has been years since I've been on it. I may have to just run up to take a look at the big, beautiful lake during the MadWags. I realized this year that I miss the old girl... I actually miss Elk too. So I'm still debating whether to turn left of go straight??
But if I wanted to find fish faster that can win, I'd stay in Skeg.
Thanks For the ideas, I wake at 230 to fish at 7... I'll be reall tired
Yes you will. But the lakes up there will wake you up!
